This hostel lies in an amazing place just 100m away from the Wicklow Way. The landscape is really beautiful, the hostel is modern and clean with all the facilities you can expect from a hostel. The only issue we had: 40 teenagers from an Irish school... I let you imagine how quiet it was... but the hostel is not really to blame...

No signage for Hostel from Wicklow Way meant myself and my friend went the wrong direction off the trail. We mentioned this to reception who didn't seem to take any notice. The only electrical sockets in the room were up near the ceiling around 7 foot high so was very hard to charge any electrical items. Shower curtain didn't cover the shower which meant the entire floor was soaked. Someone else was able to open our room with their key in the middle of the night, even with our room locked.

Dear Nicola, I am sorry our Hostel didn't meet your expectations. It is unfortunate you were 2 individuals staying at the same time as 2 very big groups doing the same hike, but they excluded you. It is also unfortunate that you 'went the wrong direction' but we are clearly marked on the map. The receptionist reported his conversation with you to me, so its unfair to say he 'took no notice'. Additionally, you did not bring any issues to our attention next morning. Helen Manager

I loved this hostel! It was a pain to get to if you have to walk (up and down several hills) but it is worth it. The views from the hostel are amazing, and it's right off the Wicklow Way. The staff was helpful and friendly, and were able to help my friend and I find some places to go.

Dear Charlot, Sorry you felt too hot. I believe other guests in your room complained of the cold and it was explained to them that if they turned on the radiator the room would heat up quickly. As it was snowing and very cold outside the heating system was running for longer than normal,however you did have the option of turning off the heat yourself. If you had mentioned the issue to me or Carol, we would have advised you to turn off the radiator and turn it on again next morning. There are notices in the room advising this. 1- It's very noisy because there isn't night staff, so nobody keep the other guests calm. Full of scouts and tenagers, try to imagine the atmosphere at 3 am... 2- There is a big problem in the room "Suite Honeymoon": the bed is broken. You are resting and suddenly feel that the world collapse under your back. My physiotherapist will buy a new car with my treatment. On the other hand, the building, the location and specially the staff, are really good.

Hello Myriam, You and I have had private email correspondence regarding your complaints and I feel they are resolved now. However, for the benefit of readers of your review: it is sad that you posted your comments without once making them known while you were at the Hostel for 2 nights and I was on duty the entire time. None of my staff recorded any interaction with you that weekend: a complaint would be logged and dealt with immediately. We were FULL the whole weekend. While we are a Youth Hostel (so some noise is expected) I acknowledge that the noise level you experienced on your 2nd night was excessive. There is a member of management onsite on-call always at night: the contact info is clearly posted on the reception window. While I did not receive any calls, I got up twice to speak to the noise-makers, an Adult Group, not the scouts or teenagers. As regards the bed, you slept in it for 2 nights. On seeing your review here, I myself slept in it to see what the problem might be. Apart from a detached screw to hold the bedside-locker in place, there is not an obvious issue with the bed, other than a softish mattress. I hope you will visit us again, when you can be assured of a warm welcome, a high standard of accommodation and a relaxing stay. Helen, Manager
