Vey nice hostel, good facilities, location and value for money. My stay in the dorm was ruined by noisy people and very small (I\'m 6\'2\"), wobbly bunk beds. I upgraded to the private room and was definitely worth it if you can afford more. It\'s a shame the staff couldn\'t match the quality of the place. They were rude, obnoxious, unhelpful, stoned constantly and clearly trying to make as much money off you as possible. I\'ve stayed in hostels all over the world and never met people like this!

I found dead cockroaches found in my bedsheets! I don't expect hostels to be the world's cleanest, but this was simply disgusting. I've stayed in may hostels (30+) around the world and this was one of the more disgusting ones for sure. The washrooms were also pretty nasty. I'm sorry, I can't recommend this hostel. Will try another one next time.

I'm sorry I do not belive you found dead cockroches in your bed sheets! That is crazy! There is just no way. Unless perhaps they came in off your feet. The linens and beds are cleaned and washed with out fail. We clean our hostel every day, but only once a day. The bathrooms are shared and get used throughout the day. We have three bathrooms for use. I'm so sorry for your bad experience. People come to our hostel all the time and say how awful it is that others leave such negitive reviews.... they feel this is a grave misrepresentation and they are thrilled with thier experience. Its a hostel in the tropics guys.... and we really put a lot of heart into this place. Right now our heart is broken. Again I'm truely sorry for your bad experience. Aloha and Mahalo

No lockers and I didn´t receive a key for the room, door remained always open. Although nothing was stolen.

We do have lockers and we do have keys. There is many times when guests stay home and they don't lock the door as they are going in and out often as they are here. We have never had a case of theft. Our home is super safe. I do not let unsavory people stay here.

If booking through Hostelworld, call before your arrival to make sure the hostel has indeed recorded your stay! My reservation was not in their system when I arrived and the dorm was fully booked. They were accommodating, they gave me clean sheets and let me sleep for free on the couch. But if you want to avoid this, call to confirm as it sounds like a recurring issue.

I spent 4 nights in the mixed dorm. It was not very clean and the air circulation was bad. With so many people in a small room, it gets very muggy and smelly without fresh air. I didn't experience bed bugs, but one of the other guys had bites all over. I just hope none came home with me in the luggage. On the plus side the staff and the other guests was nice and the social atmosphere was good. The locations was close to everything and the price reasonable for Hwaii.

solar heated water that was always cold so be prepared for cold showers. They over booked the hostel so I had to sleep outside. They did refund my money for the night. The neighborhood isn\'t great and about 15 people share one bathroom. For $25 I wouldn\'t complain. It just isn\'t quite as good as some of the other hostels I have stayed in. The location is the best hostel location in kona (there are only two). Fellow travelers there were awesome.

I paid $120 for two rooms and ended up having random people come into my space for extended amounts of time. No hot water and dirty floors. If I wanted to share a space I would have paid $25 for a shared dorm room.

Allison, I do not understand nor was I aware that anyone was entering your apartment during your one night stay. I wish this would have been brought to my attention. I'm so sorry for this. I'm unclear on what went on and please feel free to call me (manager) at the Hostel if there is anything I can do for you. This must have happened during my time off as I don't remember meeting you. I am so sorry for this issue and if I would have been made aware of it I would have supported your need however necessary. I am so sorry for your trouble. I hope you are enjoying your time in Hawaii regardless. Aloha and happy travels!

The manager was rude and not friendly, at some point she was lecturing me like my mom. I saw her do it to another guest too. The front door was always unlocked and only the girls room had a key. However, nothing got stolen. I saw two cockroach one in the bathroom and another in the bedroom, just under my bed. The hostel has two shared rooms. One only for girls and the other one mixed. The mixed room has a very uncomfortable mattress

Ana, I am very direct. I'm sorry you took this as rude. Here is the issue. We have a quiet time from 10pm to 8am. I had received several complaints about your volume both after 10pm and before 7am. I had to ask you to be quiet several different times. Your noise level woke me up several times. You and your friends were not only loud but rude to the staff treating us as if we are beneath you. You had no regard for our rules. You were affecting everyone's serenity. We do not only have two rooms as you stated above. we have 6 rooms so I don't understand why you are saying this. As far as the cock roaches they are as a part of Hawaii as the Plumeria flower. I do make efforts to control them and will continue these efforts. I'm blown away that you gave us a 1 for cleanliness. We detail this place every day . We do not have maid service so after the hour of noon we do get ware and tear, but this hostel is clean and a wonderful place for thous who enjoy our Hawaiian life style and ways. I am sorry you did not have nice things to say about us. But I know you enjoyed your stay. You were having fun the whole time you were here. We want this to be a fun place, and it is a fun place. We are not a 5star Hotel... We are a small Hawaiian hostel with a hand full of rules to keep this a safe clean friendly place to sleep. We wish you all the best in your travels! Aloha

They left me in the hot sun at the airport, forgetting to pick me up. Boys came through the room to take showers saying theirs was broken. I got bedbugs and bites all over me with big purple welts! Also, after having been away all day, my food was gone from the fridge--they eventually gave some of it back to me just before I left the next day, but a terrible, terrible place.

Wow.… first of all you really should have talked to the manager about these problems. I remember you as you were one of our more mature guests and I had asked you on several ocations if everything was good with your stay and to tell me if you needed anything. As far as the airport goes we instucted you to take a cab. You insisted we pick you up. I will on ocation pick people up from the airport for a gas fee, but I prefer not to. And I recall you were only waiting 20mins, it was your choice to wait in the sun. As far as the food and the shower go.… I really wish you would have brought this to my attention. The fridge gets cleaned daily and you should mark you food. The staff members know that they are suppose to ask your permission to use your shower and should not use the shower during bussiness hours. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, the matter will be addressed. As for as your claim of bed bugs I have checked the room you stayed in and there are no bed bugs. I am very proactive and on top of this national problem. We are free of bed bugs at this time. I belive you got mosiquito bites. I'm sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Our little hostel is funky and fun with its little quirks. But it is clean and a wonderful place for the right person(s).

I have stayed at many hostels and find this one to be top-rated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The manager does an awesome job showing great consideration to her guests and neighbors. I witnessed an encounter with a very undesirable character that wanted to stay here and Claudia handled the situation most admirably. The guests were very cheerful and friendly with the exception of one guy that was apparently expecting a 5-star hotel.Claudia shows much passion for this place, thanks.

I'd just warn other visitors that the reception is closed between midday to 5 pm, which can be quite inconvenient. Nice location, don't know whether the private room is worth the money, especially as the room in which I was staying didn't have a window which closed, so it became quite noisy and cold during the night.

Though I enjoyed my time there, the staff made it quite difficult! This lady who apparently was the manager was just completely rude! She was unwelcoming when I first arrived, then she came to my private room uninvited, without knocking the door, to according to her check something on the fridge! Again that was rude! beside being a chain smoker who will smoke right in front of the hostel, she will always ask me where I was going n what was ibringing into the hostel. I will never stay there

A few thing to address here. First off we have simi private rooms here. Which means the common areas are common. The way that this comment is stated sounds as if I went into someones room. Simply not true. I will go into the dorm rooms often to make sure people are not putting lugage on the beds and to make sure the dorm rooms are being kept in order. If you stay in a dorm it is not a simi private room. We have four kitchens four living rooms and 4 bathrooms. I will and do go around the hostel and make sure things are in order. The simi private rooms are just that. Your own room with a shared common area. As far as the personal attack on my smoking we have designated smoking areas in which I do smoke at. And I do make sure that others use this area as well. There is no need for personal attacks and this reflects poorly on you. Funny thing is I smoke chemical free american sprit rolling my own. I only smoke four or less individual cigarettes a day. Sorry to defend my self but this personal attack is just out of line. I remember this geust and I helped this person with many things including letting him use my personal cell phone. I go out of my way always to help people who stay here in any way that I can. This person would try and getting to assist them with one thing or another every time he saw me. There were a few instances in where I simply had to say.... not now... please I am helping someone other than you at this time. Of the hundreds of people who stay here it is only the people who have a problem that leave rewiews. Such a shame. Im sorry for your unhapiness toward me. So unbelievable as you were a very needy person and I did my best to give as much attention as I could. Best of luck. In closing.… I am so helpful beyond normal to our guests. I work seven days a week and have a tremendous amout of work to take care of. There are other staff members and we all do our best to provide an enjoyable experience. If you have any problems or concerns during your stay …talk to us. Please. Communicate…
