Lovely, comfortable and fun place to stay. The staff is very helpfull with everything and this togheter with the open patio and flowers and trees makes it a small oasis in beautifull Arequipa. When I got in I was very sick, but the staff treated me with tea, bread, noodles, pills and most important: they had a look every now and than. I enjoyed the movieroom over here with such a big collection, that I could have stayed a week or more, but I had to go unfortunately. Keep up the good work Koalas!Lovely, comfortable and fun place to stay. Like a previous review had said you do get slightly electrocuted when you have a shower and you need a degree to work the shower. We booked a trip the hostel to Colca Canyon that was a mistake. Our guide ( Miguel) was absolutley appalling in this capacity. The hostel is quiet and well located but you need to make sure your spanish up to scratch as the staff do not speak any english. If booking a tour make sure you question thoroughly to emsure you are happy with what you book.Like a previous review had said you do get slightly electrocuted when you have a shower and you need a degree to work the shower. I purchased a bus ticket through this hostel for 75 soles. Upon arrival at the bus station the attendant asked why I paid so much for the ticket because it should have cost only 35 soles. These hucksters collect quite the commission. I purchased a bus ticket through this hostel for 75 soles. The people in the Koala Backpacker hotel are incredibly friendly, they make you feel at home. I\'ve been in many hostels but I can definitely recommend this one! The people are eager to help you in any possible way, day trips, restaurants, even to learn Spanish, everything with a smile... A very comfortable stay! If you complain about this hostel you better go to a stiff 5 star hotel. The people in the Koala Backpacker hotel are incredibly friendly, they make you feel at home. Some staff was exceptional, but I can\'t help but leave a bad review. There is no hot water here. I asked to check out early because of it, but they put me in another room that also didn\'t have hot water. I was electricuted in every shower. A staff member claimed to be calling the bus company, told me she didn\'t charge extra, and I found out she was charging me double the price when I called the bus company myself. An extra $20 dollars!!! The storage closet for luggage has no lock. Look elsewh...MoreSome staff was exceptional, but I can\'t help but leave a bad review. There is no hot water here. For what you pay, this place is alright. Pretty small, so not as much of a party place as I thought it would be. Staff were friendly enough. Rooms are a bit run-down, but at $10 USD for a single room I guess thatīs what you can expect. The promise of hot showers turned out to be a false one - a recurring theme in Peruvian hostels! For what you pay, this place is alright. Lovely staff, apart from the fact they had no change when we tried to pay our room tab and we had to go out and find some. The travel agent situated inside the hostel we found to be a bit of a rip off, both in booking a trip to Colca Canyon and for a bus to Cusco so in hindsight I would have shopped around for better deals. Best part of the hostel: they have 2 very cute tiny puppies running around!Lovely staff, apart from the fact they had no change when we tried to pay our room tab and we had to go out and find some.
