This hostel offers everything you could possibly want from a hostel experience. Great, laid back atmosphere and friendly staff. Rooms have their own bathrooms and breakfast is also included. It's located walking distance from everything (as are most places on the island).

Fantastic experience. Diego and the rest of the people at Kona Tau are amazing. The breakfast was solid (yum banana cakes & pancakes with majar and fruit!), the recommendation for horseback riding was excellent and the guide provided riding hats and decent leg coverings which other groups did not have. The location was perfect. One thing to note is that wifi was only in the common area and not in the rooms. Overall the island has poor wifi/cell coverage fyi. Will def stay there again :)

Everything was fine. Pick up from AP, breakfast, clean room and bathroom. However the fact that you can't find anyone from the staff at anytime is a pain.even had to look for them to pay... but I guess that's Easter island tranquility.

Picked up on arrival at the airport and a welcome glass of pineapple juice - both surprises. The hostel is expensive for a hostel, but then probably in line with whatever else is available on Easter Island. The rooms are clean and have really big lockers and it's only a short walk both to the airport and the main street. Breakfast is really good too. The only negative perhaps was the staff were difficult to find at times.

Kona Tau is a great hostel. It's spacious, clean and it has a good vibe. It's also easy to meet people here. I agree that the people of the hostel aren't around that much, but you do not need them that much anyways. But when you do see them they are very friendly: They pick you up at the airport and bring you back when you leave Easter island. Everything well arranged.

Great value for what it costs. Friendly staff and the style of accommodation fits well with the island. My only gripe was an aggressive dog that was close to attacking a friend and I without any provocation. I believe the dog is normally kept on a chain?

Lovely place to stay for christmas. we were invited to have christmas dinner with the host and his family, lovely evening. helped us with everything we needed whilst on the island, even went a little further when we had trouble with a quad we hired and helped us out in a difficult situation.
