The Kook is a small boutique hostel in the Spring Hill area.... only a 10 minute walk to the action down town or to the Central RR and bus stations. I had a single room at a very reasonable price. There is nothing special about the rooms....the the basics of what one needs to crash for an evening. The staff of one was very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for a budget room in a very quiet setting, this if for you. If you are looking for party action, you will want to go elsewhere.

Just stayed for one night, but found the staff and facilities very accommodating. Very low key, quiet, and clean. Would stay again if I got the chance.

This hostel was perfect for me - I didn't want to be in a party hostel in the center of the city, and Kookaburra was perfectly removed. The staff were amazing - I forgot my passport at the hostel and they made sure it reached me at the airport before my flight left. Free wifi, free towel, clean rooms and a kitchen for public use. It was very homey and a pleasant stay.

We stayed here 5 nights as a couple and would really recomand it. The rooms are big, nice and clean. The cleaning lady do her job very well. The kithcen is not big, but it has all that you need. There is free coffe and tea and a good TV-room. It also has two tabels outside and free WiFi. We thoght it was very good value for the money. Even if it is many people staying there, you hardley see them. The bathrooms was nice and the shower rooms were excelent. I would go back if I am going to Brisbane

Cute hostel though the massive dogs wandering around make the place smell bad!

Couldn't have had a better host, she was friendly, efficient and couldn't do enough for me. Although the hostel was old it was very clean and close to the city. The bus service was brilliant as well. Being in the older category, getting to and from the airport is always a trial so I appreciated this service very much. Thumbs up to the Kookaburra Inn. Thanks Irene

We stayed in February 2012 - Had a lovely time there, the staff and owners were very friendly and helpful. The location is good too, its only 5 to 10 mins walk from the centre of the Cbd, though it is uphill on the way home - No probs for us though. The room was clean and well kept and the showers and kitchen were in good conditions too. There were NO noisy late night partys, and there's nothing nearby to disturb your sleep either! Exactly what we wanted - Would definately stay there again

This place is way better than a regular hostel. Very clean & super quite. You can find pretty much anything you needed for cooking and stuff. . No air conditioning in the rooms, but the fan was ok for me in 35 degrees. Wendy was super helpful and sweet. It is close to downtown and I could easily walk there. Also very close (5 minute walk) to a grocery store. The location was excellent! I would definitely recommend it.

Hostel located on the outskirts of Brisbane (approx 20mins walk into the centre). Hostel rooms were very small and located in what seemed like the basement. The location of rooms made us feel less secure. The hostel had a communal kitchen/dining area, which again was very small and did not allow many people to be in there at once. The hostel only had 2single showers, which made it hard first thing in the morning!Internet access very slow.Day trip to Moreton Island fantastic&well recommended.

Of you need a break from party oriented hostels - this is a great place to stay. Nice quick walk into the CBD (but not as hand as the party themed palace backpackers) hostel also has free wifi which is a must (and the pesky nomad branded hostels charge through the roof for!). Staff very friendly. Only critique - whilst the showers were lovely and the cleanest (and newest) I've seen in ages, there aren't enough so at peak hours in the morning be prepare to que.

The inn was distinctly Ozzy style and welcome all the staff were cheerful and happy to help. The facilities were good and clean would definitely recommend a stay there. They could do with moving the fridge from beside the bed but apart from that a pleasant stay.

This place suits someone who works full-time and wants peace when he or she gets back. The location is a bit far away from Fortitude Valley and Queen St Mall. Therefore, this place is not suitable for party people and people who love noise.
