Stayed here through Carnival. Suitable if want quiet, peaceful place amongst nature. Near national park and has own gadens, pretty location. The hill to hostel is rather steep and took us 1/2 hour o get to the centre square of Ouro Preto and we didnt find out where the local bus stop is before the hill so had to walk it each time. Taxi 20 Reals. Staff helpful and always available. kitchen and bathroom simple, two gas rings only.

La Aldea Zen Guesthouse is in São Sebastião village, about 2km and 1000ft above Ouro Preto. It is possible to walk to town, but you probably won't want to walk back (it's steep!), and definitely not at night. The area is nice, and the facilities are ok (but no hot water). The staff was kind of indifferent to our group staying in the hostel. We asked to have breakfast (not included!) but in the morning were told we had to wait for 10am, when breakfast for the hotel was done. This was news!
