Generally OK and a good price- but avoid the1st floor dorm rooms as they are directly off the reception/lobby area and consequently very noisy.Generally OK and a good price- but avoid the1st floor dorm rooms as they are directly off the reception/lobby area and consequently very noisy....Close

This is a nice little hostal in a charming and safe neighborhood where you walk at night without problems.
The rooms lack a bit of natural light but the beds are really comfty. Basics as coffee, tea and oil are provided for your use in the kitchen and there is a well-provided supermarket nearby. Bathroom shared but very clean and with real hot water.
The owner is nice and gave us plenty of advice on what to do and how to get there and even let us stay over the check-out hour. This is a nice little hostal in a charming and safe neighborhood where you walk at night without problems.

This was a wonderful hostel. It's located in a neighborhood full of good food, night life, and character. The owner was incredibly kind and helpful. He showed us around, gave us recommendations, and drove us to the bus station when we left Lima. Overall an excellent place. This was a wonderful hostel. The owner is fantastic! He emailed beforehand suggesting the taxi company to take and the cost from the airport. He was also EXTREMELY helpful when I discovered that my wallet with my passport was missing. He helped me contact the taxi company (that was the last place I knew I had it), the embassy, and my credit card company. He bent over backwards (and thankfully I found it intact). La Casa Barranco is very clean and quiet. It was much nicer than our hotel in Cuzco, for which we paid much more. The owner is fantastic! La Casa Barranco bills itself as an alternative-type hostel that´s ideally suited for exchange students and longer-term travelers. So, while the social atmosphere here is not like some of the other backpackers places around here (which was actually great), the location and staff are awesome, the rooms and bathrooms were very clean, and the place was super secure (locks: room --> front door --> huge crazy gate). There was a nice guitar and a slow-but-free computer in the common space too. The hostel felt more like a home. Which is nice! A lot of effort has been made to make it comfortable for guests. Nice artwork and ambience in the common area. 4 rooms in total. And a variety of people staying, short + longer term, so a nice mix. Felippe went out of his way to help with any request for local and further afield info. Would definately recommend for anybody looking for a solid base from which to explore Lima. The hostel felt more like a home. Which is nice!
