La Casa del Sol was a brilliant hostel. Fantastic location, friendly, helpful staff - particularly Mustafa - safe and clean. The heat of the water can be tempermental and needs to be negotiated with but you can definitely get hot water. The beds and sheets are all clean - whoever mentioned bedbugs in a previous review must have been talking rubbish. Excellent place to stay, very calm and relaxing after the madness of the souks. For the price and the location I don't think you can do better...

Excellent hostel with free wifi, unlimited free mint tea, and very helpful staff. I stayed in a mixed dorm and it was clean, had hot water, a window facing the inside riad terrace, several power sockets; and A/C. Every morning they change your bedsheets and mop the floor etc. Roof terrace has a bed - perfect for sunbathing, and a washing line if you need to dry your clothes. Location's great. i went on a day excursion with their tour company 'Moroccan Views' and it turned to be amazing

This Riad is amazing. I booked for 3 nights and ended up basing my whole trip in Morocco here and ended up staying about 12 nights. The staff are so friendly and go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms are the cleanest I have seen in a hostel for a long time and the cleaning staff not only clean, but will give you a free cooking lesson and let you know the cheapest places to go. Highly recommend to everyone, its now my second home in Morocco.

Good place, nice staff. But like I said earlier. My sheets were pretty filthy the first night. And I didn't enjoy the cigarette-smoking going on inside. Other than that, great! :-)

Stayed in a private room. The rooms are great! Very beautiful hostel. The staff are very kind and helpful. Stayed here two times. The first time I suspect my sheets hadn't been washed in a while. Maybe this was a one time-mistake, but pubic hair in my bed is still not cool. When you pay for a private room ensuite, a least you should get clean sheets. Another thing was the smoking going on in the lobby of the hostel, right below my window. Had to keep them closed. Besides this, I would recommend

Excellent stay - the hostel has free wifi, unlimited free mint tea, and very helpful staff. I stayed in a private single room with ensuite bathroom and it was clean, had hot water, a window facing the inside riad terrace, several power sockets; and a fan/heater. Every morning they change your bedsheets and mop the floor etc. Roof terrace has a bed - perfect for sunbathing, and a washing line if you need to dry your clothes. Location's great, within 5mins of Jemma El Fna but in a quiet alley

I loved staying here. The location is perfect, walking distance from Djemaa el Fna. The staff are friendly. Mint tea as much as you want, and breakfast every morning. I would certainly come back

I loved this place and the staff, they were wonderful all around. My room was beautifully decorated and Ioved general layout. I had one major problem however; the description stated that wifi was available and I look for that when I book a hostel as I rely heavily on the internet for personal reasons as well as a means to obtain information while in a strange country. When I complained about this I was told (twice) that wifi all over Marrakesh was down...?

Bedbugs bedbugs bedbugs! I stayed twice, covered in bites the first time but thought it was mosquitoes. The second time I could FEEL these things biting me and had to shower, shake all my clothes out and vacate the room in the middle of the night. I left them a note but had no response. Its in a good position but not worth it. Stay somewhere clean!!

My friends and I took one of the dorms here and couldn't have been happier with our stay. The value for the rooms was excellent - the shared bathrooms always had plenty of hot water and not only did we get towels, but our room was cleaned and our beds were made every day! The real draw was the staff: Mustapha and Lahcen are as friendly as they get, constantly offering tea and jokes, and happy to attend to any questions/problems from guests. You couldn't get better value for the price.

Nice, but too much noise to sleep at night, please be aware of that

Very friendly staff. Brilliant location. Much more of a hostel than a true riad feel but great for backpackers and still far more charm and authencitity than the hotels outside the medina walls. Roof terrace not that good though, no shaded area or sun-loungers / comfy seats like the previous 3 riads i've stayed in. Only let down was we payed for a private room with on suite, but there was NO hot water. It was very cold!

The four of us really loved this hostel! At first it's a bit scary when you realize you are really right in the medina itself but once you get comfortable it's awesome to be that close to the square. Everything from the rooms to the staff made as feel as though we were at home. We definitely suggest getting the en suite rooms because otherwise you have to go downstairs to use a communal shower and toilet. If I return to morocco I will certainly stay here again!
