Darren is super helpful. We are a group of expats living in San Salvador and the waterfall hike that they set you up with is probably my favorite thing I have done in El Salvador. It is also one of the cleanest and most comfortable hostels I have stayed at in the country. The option of cheap private rooms with your own bathroom is really nice.

Fabulous place to stay. Beautiful colonial property with a lovely garden. Quirky private rooms. Very friendly host. Great for relaxing and a good base for Las Ruta de Flores.

Thank you very much guys, you`re positive feedback is greatly appreciated. We are very happy that you felt so at home here, and hope to see you back here one day. Meanwhile enjoy the rest of your travels, keep on spreading the good vibe x

Homey place, with beautiful gardens, extremely friendly/helpful staff, and a laid back vibe. The waterfall hike is an excellent service and adventure the hostel offers! Carlos is da bomb guide and chiquita the hostel dog is the most epic and sweet of hiking partners.

Thanks for your kind review. And thanks for mentioning our superb guide, Carlos (da bomb ?? I`ll never be able to translate that for him, lol) I think though, that Chiquita will appreciate your praise. I`ll express it to her in doggy biscuits. Abrazos from all at Casa Mazeta

Good place to relax. No party. Quiet time after 9. Very good kitchen. Nice garden area.

Thanks for the review. Spot on, we`re not a party hostel. Card games, backgammon & cribbage for sure, but none of the mindless frolicks of some hostels. Why you downgraded us on security is a mystery. We live in one of the safest towns I`ve ever known, safe enough for guests to let themselves in and out of the hostel during daylight hours. Staff present round the clock, night security every night. Two excellent guard dogs. Maybe I should buy an Uzi ? Safe onward travels in a beautiful world

Excellent hostal in Juayua. The bunk beds were roomy along with the lockers. There is a spacious kitchen, dining area (in an outdoors) and TV area. Everyone gets a free beer or soda at arrival. Darren is a fountain of knowledge of the area. Highly recommended!

Thanks for the high recommendation. Free welcome beer or soda on arrival, why wouldn`t we ;) Thanks also for the praise, been here a long, long time now and probably been to more places in El Salvador than most locals. It was great meeting you guys, hope to meet again someday. Abrazos from all at Casa Mazeta

La Casa Mazeta was the most welcoming and comfortable hostel environment we've ever been to. Darren is an excellent host and his house is lovely. The staff there is top-notch and one if them is the best waterfall tour guide ever. The waterfall tour was one of our favorite parts about staying at La Casa Mazeata, but we'd like to forewarn anyone who is not ready for a physical challenge that it is pretty rigorous! We were there during the food festival and it was very easy to get around from here

Thank you for the great review. Really glad that you loved the waterfall tour. It is difficult to relay exactly what level the tour is at, we have had septuagenarians do the hike with ease, while some in their twenties have struggled. Everyone though, has loved the hike. Getting around from here is exceptionally easy, as you say. Just a block from the main superstore, 2 from the food festival and 3 from the best cafe/bar in town. You could say we are the best placed hostel in Juayua in fact!

Nice hostel. The owner Darren and his staff are all really friendly and helpful. Laid back atmosphere and good location in the small town. Lots of mosquitos, but that's not really the hotel's fault!

Thanks for the review, very much appreciated. Sorry about the mozzies, but you´re right there is little we can do about them! We do put in anti-mosquito spirals everywhere we can, and have nets over some of the beds. We aim to put more nets in to accomodate all of our guests, however the problem is not usually so bad. Juayua´s local council have also been fumigating the whole area for some weeks now, so it should get better. Happy onward travels mate, and thanks for coming to stay with us.
