Casa Verde was the best hostel we stayed at during our 5-months-travel through South America. The hosts were very friendly & helpful, they gave us the feeling being at home & provided us with excellent information about activities in & around Banos. The house is lovely & we enjoyed spending time in the chilling areas. The breakfast was outstanding, especially the homemade bread, jams & juices. Even if the hostel is not located in town, it is easily reachable on foot (20 minutes walk) or by cab.

A big thanks to Doug, Rebecca and their staff for a great stay. Doug was incredibly informative and gave me a run down of Banos and the local hiking routes. Breakfast was great and the homemade bread was the best I'd had in Sth America. I was looking for a quiet stay and that's what I got. The sound of the river puts you to sleep and there's also the amazing massages that Angela, the on site masseuse gives. I've had a lot of massages and Ang's one's is definitely a stand out. Cheers!

Nice quiet place to relax. Absolutely gorgeous location 5 minutes outside of Banos by taxi. Best breakfast we\'ve had in South America (healthy, fresh). We also liked the fact that we supported an eco-friendly hostel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great deck overlooking the river and mountains. Hot water! Clean rooms. We will be going back!

The staff that works there treat you so good that you feel like at home. Beds are very comfortable, and the shower space is good which sometimes you don't find at other places. Casa Verde has a personality of its own. The kitchen are is big and always clean. They proved to be a GREAT hostel when I had a problem with one of my friends and they were very patient with our situation as I had an extra guest in the last minute. Rebecca and Doug are great people. I highly recommend Casa Verde.

We loved La Casa Verde. It's more than a clean bed and a shower, it's a home away from home that makes you feel immediately welcome. The large kitchen/dining area is a great place to visit with friends over a free cup of tea or coffee any time of the day. Rebecca and Douglas are great at helping to arrange tours or finding restaurants, lavanderias, etc. They are also so conscious of the environment you really feel as if you're doing something for the country by staying there.

This hostel is more like a bed and breakfast, which was refreshing! Possibly the best part about it was the owner, Doug, who was incredibly helpful and informative. One day, he recommended a hike for us and even walked us down to the trailhead and gave us detailed landmark directions to keep us on track (great since many Ecuador trails aren't very well marked). We liked that it was a bit out of town so all we heard at night was the river! (A taxi to town is only $1.50

Doug and Rebecca go the extra mile to make sure La Casa Verde is verde. They are very welcoming and have a great deal of information about the local activities and restaurants. The breakfast was amazing, complete with home made bread. The house itself is lovely- bright, spotless, quiet and relaxing. We arrived late the first night after 8 hours on a bus, and it was great to be able to heat up a nutritious meal from the freezer as well as indulge in a brownie. Don´t miss this place!
