I spent two nights La Casa del Tio in Guanajuato. The staff was less than the super- friendly and helpful staff that can be found at many hostels. They did not offer advice or really even acknowledge me. The rooms are exactly what you would expect, but be prepared to ask for more blankets as each bed only has one very thin blanket on it and January nights get cold even in Mexico.
Not so many utensils and cookware in the kitchen which made it hard to cook our own dinner. Other than that we loved staying here. It is very close to the town square and the staff were very friendly and helpful!

Don't have much to say about this place just that it's great. The people at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. The location is great. It can get a little loud because the street is very busy and there are a few bars close by were they play music at night but other than that, it has need one of the best hostels I have stayed in.
not sure why its recommended by Lonely Planet; the female dorm was smaller, only 6 beds with female bathrooms which was nice. however most of the hostel faces the street which was extremely noisy;...other wise good location breakfast not great
If you want to sleep before the party in town ends, then it's the wrong place. Otherwise it's not bad, just not the cheapest place in the world.
