The hostel is good, a bit too big for my taste but ok and I like the location. Staff was halpful in booking me a transfer to the airport. Other than this, it doesn't have anything particularly amazing, the dorm I stayed was pretty small and it had no natural light, you had to open the bathroom door (bathroom had window) to be able to actually see something.

Very nice lively hostel located in the heart of barrio Bellavista (young bohemian party district). The staff is very helpful and can give you tips for your stay in Santiago de Chile. Sometimes there's an organized barbecue night with another hostel, which makes for a great opportunity to meet new people.

The facilities are great - really clean, well-decorated, and it has multiple well-stocked kitchens. The downsides were twofold - the staff, while perfectly nice, seemed more intent on chain-smoking outside or chatting than actually helping you, and the wifi was awful. When it was working, it was fast, but it would cut out every 5 minutes and occasionally remain non-functional for over an hour at a time. I don't know if this is due to the hostel's system or Santiago's grid, but it's irritating.

Great place! We stayed in all three of the houses that make up the hostel- all were good but we really liked the last house (what can I say, comfy sofa's, pool table, "winter garden"- amazing). The night that the band played out back was a highlight, the atmosphere was perfect. The staff were really friendly and fun- comics all over the place :D We will be recommending La Chimba to everyone on their way to Santiago!

Very nice hostel, nice people, recommended! Rooms at the front are noisy at night, because of people sitting outside , but most of all because of the karaoke bar opposite the hostel.

Pro: great location, lots of common space including beautiful patios, good wi-fi throughout. Con: the girl's dorm is claustrophobic and has no windows (less than 10sqm for 4 people) or space to put stuff. No idea how they get the atmosphere rating, least bothered staff I have ever met, and everyone else agreed. Either they are really spaced out or on drugs. I didn't get a "Hi" when checking in, and not even a glance when checking out, in between, they were really weird and intimidating.

the hostel is rediculosly long and shaped very wierd. It is too big! my room was at the end of the hostel and it was a pain getting there every time. kitchen is not well equiped (couldnt even find a knife to cut a salad!). it has a lot of areas to sit around and took to people and usually you'll be able to find a quite spot were no one is around because it is so big.

its as good as a hostel can get as far as location and facilities go. they have super fast fiberoptic internet connection with desktops spread around and wifi throughout the whole hostel. they throw bbqs and then take the everyone out to clubs nearby.

As I said before, me and my girlfriend stayed in this hostel twice in my last visit to Santiago. The first stay, in house 1, was really bad. But this one, in house 2, was great. After an entire day walking and going to parties, all you need is a place to rest peacefully. And the room was for that purpose. Quiet and clean, our second stay was a real pleasure on this visit.

La Chimba is a big hostel, composed of 3 houses, each house is almost a different hostel in comfort and cleanness. Me and my girlfriend stayed in the house one, in a 6 dorm room on our first stay. The bathroom was dirty and the shower broken. But the worse was at 3am, when a guy from the staff woke me up saying that was not my bed. They don't even know who is in each room or have any control about the reservations. The second stay was better. I got a double bed private room on the second house.
