Very clean, modern facility. Staff were friendly. Could get loud at times. Breakfast was good (for a Rome hostel). Slightly pricey for a hostel but the cleanliness and professionalism makes up for it. Note that you have to bring your own locks as they don't provide you with one, but generally the security in this place is excellent.
I stayed 4 nights. Good location, only 30 minutes walking from most major attractions. The facilities were pretty clean, bathrooms could have been better. Atmosphere was pretty social if you wanted to be, which was nice. The staff was super friendly and helpful, I would stay here again. There was a free breakfast (toast and cereals) which was a happy surprise because that is not listed on here.
The rooms do not have any places in which to hang a jacket or shirt. So some kind of hooks would be nice and practical.

I got to this hostel after a friend's recommendation and couldn't be happier with that! The staff is very helpful, the facilities are excellent and the whole place is spotless, also, the atmosphere in the hostel was great!!!
Good location close to the metro and Termini as well as walking distance to most sights. Everything in the hostel feels brand new and is really nice. The building has proper heating which is a nice change compared to most Italian hostels in the winter.
I was lucky to have met amazing people here. Defintely will be back to this place!
Had a nice relaxed atmosphere, very clean and comfortable. The included breakfast is a great deal, and the staff was friendly. Its about a fifteen minute walk from the major tourist spots, so its in a quieter area but still close enough to get around on foot to sightsee if you don't mind a little excercise.

The hostel is only 10 minutes walking from Train Station Roma Termini. Good breakfast included in price (cereals, bread/toast, coffee/tea, milk, jam and butter. Employer was very helpful about activities in Rome. Wifi and free use of internet. I was in the mixed room (4 beds) with lockers and private bathroom.
La controra was an excellent option for our stay in rome. It's location is fantastic and very easy to access the metro. The rooms were big and clean as well as the bathrooms. Would highly recommend!

One of the best Hostel I've ever stayed. Cool staffs and cool people around the world gave me an unforgettable memory.
Simply perfect!!! Thank you for everything! First of all the location was great, I felt safe, the atmosphere was totally favorable for making new friends and cooking both Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve dinner together meant a lot to me, who am travelling alone. I am sure staying at La Controra was the best choice, I stayed there for 10 nights and have nothing to complain about. You are the best!
I stayed for 5 nights during the Christmas season. La Controra is in a very central location & is accessible through Repubblica & Barberini Metro. I can also say that it is in "safe" area as it is very near the US EmbassRoom No 2 was clean and very spacious.Common areas such as the Dining and Kitchen were clean as well. The staff were very helpful in everything & friendly too; not because it's their job to be one, but i think they have great personalities too. Would definitely stay here again.
La Controra was a good stay. Its really close to the train station and the directions are good. Since Rome is pretty spread out you need to learn public transit and walking regardless. There wasn't much going on in the common area in the winter time.
Staff was great, very helpful. I appreciated being able to eat breakfast before an early morning departure. Super explicit directions on finding the hostel from Termini Station.
Pretty small but comfy hostel! Beds are comfortable, great shower. Central location for transportation and major sightseeing points. Only downside is that they have poor breakfast selection and you have to wash your own dishes.
Good hostels in Rome are hard to find, but everyone at La Controra is working hard to make this one of the best spots in the city. Staff were amazing - helpful and friendly. Good atmosphere compared to many other hostels in Italy, and easy to meet new people if you are travelling alone. The area is a little pricey, but you can easily walk 15 minutes to find great restaurants a plenty of attractions. Perfect place to stay in Rome!
The room is so huge! Our 4 person room easily couldve fit 6 or 8 people in it so it's really a testament to the hostel that they didn't cram more people in there. The hostel was a really great base to explore from during the day- only 10 minutes from termini and 15 minute walk to the newly refurbished Trevi Fountain. It is on a quiet street but if you walk for a couple of blocks you will be in the heart of the city. Highly recommend!
Really nice hostel, great staff, good breakfast and kitchen to use if you want. Location is amazing - so close to everything! Did lack atmosphere though, which could be because it's split over two floors. Would be cool to have organised activities or something to get to know others. Despite that I met some cool people while staying here :)
Very clean, quiet and comfortable hostel. Everything you need. The breakfast is simple as well. If you want to party this is not the hostel for you. We had a very nice stay and almost only slept there. We did not take metro or cab as we could walk everywhere. The staff is very nice and provides a good map and tips.
Really nice and clean place! Perfect location in Rome, walking distance to the centre. Probably the nicest looking hostel I've ever stayed at!
