I booked this hotel before getting to Las Galeras, got there via a long and bumpy guagua ride far away from the town (re: far from the supermarket, banks, beaches, etc.), and promptly turned around and just found a hotel in town that had available rooms. I've heard great things about the owner, and this seems like a great place if you love the exclusion and outdoors. But be aware that it is FAR AWAY, and there are many nice hotels in town. I was misled as to how remote it was.

I stayed for 2 weeks and loved it! I camped out in the yard with a tent (provided). Karen is sweet and generous, always looking out for the guests. Great place to meet other travelers and an even better place to escape the bustle of touristy destinations. It's 10 to 15 minute walk to the nearest beach and right next to some gorgeous hiking trails. It's somewhat of a walk into town, but it's a beautiful one! The kitchen is great for cooking and sharing with others. And she has horses!
La Hacienda was amazing! Karen was a great host, really generous and made us an amazing breakfast! Beautiful location and really peaceful.
