Lovely Hostel but I was charged more than the price on Hostelworld as I was given an upgraded dorm and didn't know. They also charged me the full amount even though I had paid 10% on the Hostelworld website

Pretty expensive compared to the other places around the lake, everything is excluded and kind of overpriced. I slept in a house without walls, sucky matrass and no light and even paid more for it then for a private room on San Pedro. The place is ok, but it is all about money and complete overcharging. The shared dinner is 60Q while on Panajachel you get the same in expensive restaurants for 35Q. Further it has nothing to do with Guatemala and feels like an English speaking jungle resort..

The hostel has very nice atmosphere great for backpackers to mingle, especially during dinner. Nice rustic cabana well decorated with traditional Guatemalan textiles. The room has 2 sky light, which might be a bad thing if you want to sleep in a bit. The gap between the roof and wall, especially in the shower might cause the room to be quite chilly during winter. The walls of the cabana which is made of plastic bottles, although environmentally friendly, does not provide good sound-proofing.

One of the nicest hostels I have been to. I treated myself to one of the private rooms, and it was wonderful. The nicest hot shower I have had in a long time...practically a deluge. (Be sure to let them know if your shower isn't hot as it runs on gas and they may need to top up your tank. Eco-aware, happy staff, great atmosphere, and some of the best dressed cross dressers at the Saturday night party, I resolve to wear more appropriate attire in the future.
