Really homely place. Based in a very good place to see the sights. The building itself has a lot of character. I stayed in the 20 bed dorm, which didn't feel cramped due to the clever layout and it still gave you some privacy. During my stay, there wasn't an awful lot of other guests, and I can imagine that when it's under full occupancy that it can be quite cramped. During low season it is an excellent place to stay.Really homely place. Based in a very good place to see the sights. The building itself has a lot of character. I really enjoyed the stay. If you are sensitive to noise you could have a tough time (dependent on the guests), since the living room is right by the private rooms but I guess that's the nature of a hostel. A lovely hostel in a great location! It's really not staffed at all--the owners own two other guest houses around the block, so they're there if you need them, but for the most part you're on your own. The breakfast was really no good, just sliced bread, but the hostel is very nice. It's very warm and friendly, with brightly colored walls covered in messages from the owners and past guests. There are private rooms and a dorm. We'd definitely recommend it.A lovely hostel in a great location! We had a ball at this hostel. I'd recommend getting the private room, if available. It's still cheap, but also cozy. There couldn't be any better of a location.
Don't go here if you want the party experience though. Montreal is good for fun, but this hostel isn’t a zoo like some.
Joanna and Shamilla were the best! They were always good sports, to tell a story, or to listen to one. If I'm ever in Montreal again, which I now plan to be, I will absolutely go back to La Maison. :)We had a ball at this hostel. I'd recommend getting the private room, if available. great location if you want to be in old montreal but if you are on a budget do try and eat in other areas such as the plateau. subway within 5 min walking.
double or single room facing the street were a bit loud as there where a couple of bars across the street.
breakfast was toast. no coffee or tea so that was a bit of a disappointment.

This has got to be one of the best hostels I have been to. It feels like a home away from home with the warm atmosphere, 20 bunks with air mattresses in a loft style room, and linen drapes as dividers, the washing machine and dryer going int he room made it feel like I was staying in my aunties house, not a hostel. Loved it. This has got to be one of the best hostels I have been to.
