Cannot say enough about this hostel. My girlfriend and I both loved it. There were people from all over the world hanging out in their lounge room all day, and everyone would drink and go out together at night. Because they are in old Montreal, the surrounding restaurants and stores are more expensive, but it is the prettiest part of the city and you can find cheap places to eat and drink only a few blocks away.

I was stuck outside for over 30 minutes because my code was not working upon my checking in. Another customer let me in the building. Anybody off the street can do the same. I felt unsafe in this hostel Throughout my stay, there was nobody I met that works there.

Everything is very clean, nice and people are really friendly. I had a problem with the room, the booking was wrong and they solve it in 10 minutes. The way in which the hostel is organized is really good for me and it shows that by trusting people you can really have a good time in there. I absolutely recommend you to stay here.

I LOVE this hostel, definitely made my short trip to Montreal unforgettable! It's a very good hostel if you want to meet people, I felt at home straight away so it was just like everyone who stayed there became part of a very international family. There's no staff at night, to me, that was never a problem and we had their number in case of emergency. The hostel is kind of small and since it's right in the city and has a "young atmosphere", people will most likely stay up a little late and drink.

Hostel was cozy, clean and wonderful. Haven't been to many hostels where there isn't 24 hour staff, but it seemed easy to reach someone on "off" hours should you need to. Love the no-shoe policy indoors; hostel was really clean (except the kitchen which could probably use a good scrub). Neighborhood is beautiful and very convenient to get to metro.

I enjoyed my stay at La Maison du Patriote in Montreal. The hostel is very conveniently located and is a great bargain. My only complaint is lack of staff...I know the owners do this to save money, but most college-aged kids don't clean up after themselves very well, so the kitchen was quite dirty. Otherwise, I'd recommend it.

I would honestly say that the Maison du Patriote is one of the best hostels I have ever been to. It is in a great location and was pretty easy to find. Although we didn't get to meet the owners, I felt they did a great job in welcoming their customers, with the notes on the front door etc. It was really homely feeling and very clean. I would 100% stay here again.

I didn't really like this hostel's self-serve model. The owner passes through in the middle of the day to clean, but his daily visit didn't always keep pace with some of the messier guests so dishes pilled up in the sink throughout the evenings and into the morning. For a hostel this small, it packs in a lot of people. By far the most people per square and fewest toilets/showers per person I've seen in a hostel. Difficult to get more than a few people in the kitchen.

EXCELLENT hostel, maybe the best I have ever stayed in! Lovely room, very clean facilities and nice staff. Well equipped kitchen and a nice common room. It is also directly in the old town of Montreal. There are only two bathrooms and showers in the hostel, which was fine when we were there in winter (the hostel was maybe half full), but in summer this might be a problem. Nevertheless, I would come back anytime and recommend this hostel to anyone!

Excellent hostel! Wonderful people, wonderful facilities, wonderful location...it was the best first hostel experience ever and La Maison du Patriote will definitely set the bar high for all other future hostel adventures. I'll recommend it to anybody looking to stay in a great place in a great part of Montréal.

The guests at La Maison du Patriote clearly internalized the culture that the owners wanted us to; everyone was friendly and trustworthy. Paying for our stay was confusing; it would have been good to know who to talk to about that earlier, and I was disappointed that the owners never came in at all, but my trip was still enjoyable.

Great place visually but if you have a private room, you are right next to the lobby/main area, and there is NO kind of sound protection from the people walking in and out or just hanging, playing the bongo drum at 2am.

This is home at first sight, more like a sharehouse as there is no staff in the evenings, but that just made it feel so cosy. It is noisy in the weekends though, so if you look for quiet don't go. But for all the rest: 100% lovely!!!!!

It was the best hostel that I have stayed at, and I had a great time! It was very comfortable, very clean, very well equipped (i.e. shampoo, hair dryer, coffee, tea, towels, computers and even instruments!) I made so many good friends at the hostel that I am still very close with today. It was a life changing experience, and I highly recommend this hostel to college students who are looking for a comfortable stay with great friends!

the wi-fi sometimes does not work well. also, there is no plug-in in the room. besides,it is too loud in the night since there is a pub outside. otherwise it is perfect, e.g. very nice staff and good location, clean and secure.
