We had a really nice time and the owner was very nice and helpful. There are two friendly dogs and a cat living there, which was fine for us but should be mentioned for people with allergies etc... The area isn't the best, but if you stay on the main roads you should be fine. Subway is within 6 minutes walk and it takes an about 8-15 minutes ride to go downtown.

La Sienna is a great place! The owner is soooo kind! 5 minutes walking from the express metro, in a very nice and safe neighborhood, even at night. Very good value for the money, and very clean kitchen and bathroom. I will definitely recommend La Sienna to my friends coming to NYC!!

Exceeded all of our expectations. Can't imagine finding a better place to stay in New York. 20 minute trip to Times Square/Broadway area. Would definitely tell all my friends to stay there and would stay there again in a heartbeat myself.

Great location, great place to stay in NY. The building is quite old and could really use some renowal or at least a general cleaning. We had a private room with shared bathroom and shared kitchen, it was ok, but the kitchen had no stove so we had to use the one upstairs to cook.

Owner Comment (Hide)
This is a prewar building with a vintage style as you can see in the pictures. Our style is not suitable for everyone. All shared bathrooms are hand cleaned several times a day, rooms are steamed cleaned at a high temperature and checked for any bugs. WE TAKE THIS VERY SERIOUSLY.

Absolutely great, and so was our host, Yvette. There were a couple incidents in Harlem around the time we were staying there but we never once felt unsafe. The building for the 28th Precinct of the NYPD is right nearby and there are several cute little bars just around the corner, not to mention the Apolo Theatre! Our room was very private and comfortable, and Yvette assured us of its cleanliness, even showing us her magnifying glass and steamer to be extra sure there are never any bedbugs!

Charming hostel and neighborhood. The construction going around took away from the building but overall it was a lovely experience at La Sienna

If you're on a budget then this is the place for you. Old house but clean and tidy, all you'd want in a low cost place to stay in New York. If you want a new modern hotel you will need to pay a lot more downtown. Just around the corner from the Metro (125th street) Twenty five minutes to 34th Street (Macy's / Times Square) Central park is a shortish walk away. All in all i enjoyed my stay here. The 'Average' for Atmosphere reflects on it was mid january during my time there.

Great hostel, loved the variety of teas available and the sweets. Very clean and always smelt really good! Yvette was a really sweet host. The only thing I would recommend is for La Sienna to have a sign up somewhere outside so that you know you have found the right place. I would recommend this hostel.

The house is located near of the metro station and also near of the bus station (M60) to laguardia Airport. Yvette and Many are very helpful and Yvette is always giving you advices. There are a lot of stores near of la sienna, the neighborhood seems to be safe and peaceful. There is a police station just on the corner. The house is old but the bedroom was very nice, clean and confortable.
