Fantastically priced accommodation less than 5 minutes walk away from two subway stops, which are only a 5-10 minute ride away from down town Manhatten. Safe surroundings both in and outside of guesthouse. Made to feel very welcome.

La Sienna in terms of it's location is fabulous. The train is only a couple of blocks away and within 15 minutes you arrive in times square. Harlem whilst at first hearing seems like it would not a safe area but to be honest I felt extremely safe here, even at night and many of the people we met around Harlem were quite friendly. Yvette as a hostess is lovely though we didn't have much to do with her. Maddy is also quite nice but can come across a bit abrupt when dealing with clients.

Very lovely house big windows lots of light everything you could need. The owners were very nice, helpful and welcoming. our room was next to a road which at times got noisy nothing to bad and a pair of good earplugs didn't fix. If i'd known how lovely the room downstairs was i would have paid the extra for that. but thats not to say our room was bad. The place never felt unclean and was very well looked after.

Manny and Yvette were very nice and helpful. We were pleasantly surprised at how accessible everything is from this location and would not hesitate to recommend it. Absolutely excellent value for your money in NYC.

I thought that for the price this hostel was good value. I only used it to sleep from 10pm-7am as i was at a seminar so i can't speak to the location for sightseeing but the subway is a two and a half block walk (past NYPD precinct) and i felt relatively safe walking. Not a neighborhood to hang out outside. The building/bedroom was a little old but for the most part upkept and clean. I had a pleasant stay and didn't pay $250/night in a hotel with my own bathroom so it was fine.

We stayed at La Sienna from 1st till 6th April 2012 our room was very comfortable with an ensuite bathroom we even had a spacy kitchen, which was very useful. Manny and Yvette were very kind and helpful. We will definitely stay here again when we are in New York. Pierre & Mireille, from Ghent, Belgium

We stayed in la Sienna for 10 nights and it was a great time. The owner is very nice and helpful, the rooms are clean, the next subwaystation just 5 minutes away and last but not least the price is very good! The best place for young people who want to save money, but don´t want to stay in a 10- people- dorm ;-)

For the price it is fantastic. Clean, comfortable and secure. I would highly recommend it for anyone who can't afford to stay in lower Manhattan, and i found the owners very pleasant and helpful.Location is fine and travel to Times Square etc. was no problem. The atmosphere is very good because the owner wouldn't tolerate any bad behaviour, if you're respectful to them and the other guests they are very nice people.

The owners provided towels, satellite TV and did not interfere with anything. They were serviceable when needed and were very respectful and kind. My stay in New York could not have been better!

Stayed here for 5 nights in early March, the place is really nice, Manny was very friendly and helpful. Kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms were really clean and comfortable. The free WiFi was great and very useful when planning your day, however connection not as good on top floor which was a shame. Good location with being so close to a tube station and so was easy to get wherever we needed. Although it was a bit intimidating walking through Harlem to get to the guest house in the evening we felt

La Sienna's facilities are fairly nice for a hostel, anything you would expect. The staff however, treated my girlfriend and I in a prejudicial manner purely because my girlfriend is from New York. Because she's from NY, the staff immediately asked for a $50 deposit (not on website), explaining that they only required it of New Yorkers. They threatened to keep the deposit should we be "generally rowdy" , not put the toilet seat down, not dry the floors of the bathroom or many other basic rules.

We love the small room we lived in during our 3-day break in New York. Although the location is a little far from the midtown, it's easy to get to the subway. The room is very safe & clean. What's most impressive is the hosts' amicability and responsibility. We were delayed to check-in because of the snowy weather, they sent the emails and calls, waiting until the mid-night. Then helped us move the luggage & got everything ready. If I will go to New York again, I will definitely live there.

We had a great stay: the owners are really nice and welcoming. The location is excellent, it's only a 10-minute subway ride downtown. It was very safe, we had no problem whatsoever so no worries about that! Highly recommended, great value for money.

La Sienna is a great place, a little "harlem's" house with two levels. At first, there are rooms, bathroom and restroom. At second, there are rooms, bathroom, restroom and a kitchen. All were very clean, each day of the week. Owners were simply great and very helpful. They facilitate our departure for airport as they allowed us to put luggages in their own room before leave. From La Sienna, you can go to Time Square in about 15 min. Finally a great place to stay in NY. We'll come back. Regards.
