Excellent hostel. It´s a fairly quiet place, where you can meet a diverse range of people, of different ages. Immaculately clean, spacious, good beds, great breakfast, outstanding staff. Can get a little cool at night!

The staff was very helpful with suggestions on what to see in and around Ouro Preto. The bathrooms were spotlessly clean and the shower was hot. The breakfasts were tasty with the usual ham cheese in a roll heated in the panini grill along with some great homemade granola and fruit, and fruit juice with tasty drip coffee. One suggestion is for them to add CNN international to their TV choices.

The hostel is good, but when I stayed there, it was on very freezing days. The room I stayed was very cold at night and we didnt have a enough blankets to stay warm. They have only two bathrooms to everybody.... and the both are to men and women. Sometimes, it was a problem. The breakfast is very good and the staff is very friendly. Nevertheless, I would be there again.

I stayed there 2 days and I really think it is a great place to stay ! The location is really central, breakfast is great, the hostel team is also great and cool and give you good advises about the city and restaurants and bars. I recommend La em casa definitely.

Great location right on the main square. The female owner speaks good English and was very helpful with info. Went the next day to Inhotem out of Belo Horizonte on her advice. Have a fast Mac computer.

This is a good hostel. It has good common areas and the facilities are excellent - good kitchen and there is a TV room with cable. The owner Maria is very friendly and helpful. However, breakfast on the first day isnt included, there is a charge of 5 reals. I wouldnt have minded but I wasnt told this until after I started eating, which I dont feel was fair. Also would be good if there were more bathrooms.

Our stay in the hostel did not live up to the (possibly too) high expectations we had. The hostal was under contruction while we were there, which marginalised beds and didn't help for atmosphere. Furthermore, the hostel could score some credits on providing useful information like things-to-do and busschedules etc. On the flipside, there is no location that can beat this one, and some staffmembers are super friendly (and others seem careless).

Nice location, Good to have individual power point for each bed but the upper deck bed might be a concern for tall person.

I usually don't write reviews because I'm just too lazy, but this hostel deserves an excellent one. The staff, facilities, breakfast was amazing. They were very accommodating and answered all my questions. And I ask a lot of questions. I highly recommend this hostel, along with their sister hostel in Belo Horizonte.

This hostal has the most amazing staff I have ever met. They speak many languages, which accommodates all kinds of guests. They are very helpful when you need information and they go out of their way to help you. This hostel is very clean and they have very good bathrooms that are fully equipped. This is a great place to stay in Ouro Preto, it is close to many sights and the atmosphere is great. I highly recommend them! They also have a hostel in Belo Horizonte, which go by the same standards.

the hostel is on the main square of the town, so the location is perfect. Really nice staff who can help you with all your questions. And the breakfast is pretty good. Bathrooms are not specially good or bad.

La em Casa... really means what i felt there, just like at home and it is really a chance to find such a place above all when you are travelling alone and want some rest and fun for some days. Mariela and Christophe are great and their staff is just at their image and fits the hostel philosophy ; open, friendly and warm. High recommandation !
