Not enough toilets and shower rooms! These should be separated. If the shower is in use you can't have access to the toilets or wash basins. We were waiting one morning for over an hour to use the toilet because the room was constantly in use! 1 wash room/toilet is not enough for 3rooms where as many as 10 people could be staying! Not possible to use on other floors- everyone had the same problem running around to find an empty toilet.

Owner Comment (Show)
Hi. There is 6 of each. On your floor there was 6 people. That is why when we checked you in we mentioned where all the toilets and showers are. Unfortunate because breakfast ends at 10am alot of people use the toilets after 09:30 to get down just before our great breakfast ends. This is easily avoidable by not waiting until 09:30 like everyone else on a Sunday morning after a night out in the pubs

Nice tours at the desk. People on the hostel says: "hah, are you kiding? it is just 20min walking to the city center", just, but if you can avoid gheto and have friends with your it is ok. But, nice hostel. Really great breakfast!!

Well actually it is 20 minutes walk to the City hall. That is the center point of the city centre. There is no Gheto in belfast so nothying to worry about. I have to admit for someone that says nice hostel. Really great breakfast. And then leave me 60%??? When people are not used to better i guess they might not know how good we are.

I found lagan one of those hostels that fall into the ' puts effort and money into the wrong things' catogory. They offer a free big breakfast in the mornings, but what i would of preferred was a clean toilet and shower. They have a cinema room, but the bedroom lockers would rattle everytime someone would move in the room. The owner cooks up a bbq everynight, but what i really want at night is a pillow that isnt 1cm thick. I think they are trying really hard, but they have their priorities wrong

A lovely hostel with friendly and informative staff. A great atmosphere, even given whiskey upon our arrival! Staff definitely understand the needs of a backpacker and really go the extra mile to ensure that you have a great stay. This was my second time at Lagan backpackers and I highly recommend the hostel. Cooked breakfast included in the price, I can't really work out how they make their money. A very friendly atmosphere and a great nights sleep. Thanks a million.

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed, they really make you feel at home, besides they worry about you be comfortable all time, they take care you live Irish culture with things like breakfast, giving advice about places to visit, William’s Irish dance and so on, and if by any chance one of the days you are in the hostel is your birthday ask for your gift at the reception. This is definitely the hostel to stay in Belfast, of course if you want to have a great time, if not chose another one

The hostel is located quite far from the centre (about 20 mins. walking/ costs around 4 pounds by taxi from the bus station), but there is the supermarket nearby for you to buy the food for self-catering. The breakfast provided by the hostel is also great, there are 5 or 6 options to choose from. Moreover, travel to other cities by train is easy as the hostel is close to the Botanic station. The cleanliness is acceptable even though the bed linens are old. The bathroom is also clean.

It was in a great location... nothing more than a 5 pound cab ride anywhere, or else everything is within walking distance. The staff is lovely and gives you a map with great directions to everything you would want to do. The staff was also very friendly that night and tried to persuade us to go out with them a few times, which I definitely would have done normally. An included breakfast is a great touch, as it was much better than any I have had at another hostel. Overall, great stay.

It's in a great part of town in a cute neighborhood. Botanic Ave starts right near you and you have a great walk to the center by City Hall. Got good recommendation for the Black Taxi Tour (choose Paddy Kane!!) from front desk as well as nice full breakfast in the morning and one night even got treated along with some other guests to a nice dinner by William the owner. Nice salmon! My only recommendation would be that you include some juice in the morning incase someone isn't into tea or coffee.

Hi Jade. Thanks for the review. I give a FREE hot breakfast unlike other hostels. If someone wants juice there is a shop 1 minute walk from the hostel. Seems fair to me!
