No lock on the bedroom door ! And tiny lockers in the common room, unsuitable for travelling bags. Because the hostel is not manned and because of our "late" arrival, our bedroom was invaded by some other hosts thinking they could spread.

Very poor security.I found the door to the street open several times and there are no locks in roomdoors! Also there's nobody there if you need assistance.Considering the unstaffed system it's ridiculous that the only lockers available are small and you have to pay 50p EVERY TIME YOU CLOSE THE LOCKER!!! Location is good, very close to rail station.Atmosphere depends entirely on who is staying here.

The biggest worry would be that there is no staff to ensure security. None of the rooms have locks and the main door is locked by a simple combination lock that could be easily obtained.

Absolutely fantastic place to stay in Windermere. Clean rooms, nice public area, close to lots of trails, grocery stores, and shops. Will be back in a few months and will definitely stay again!

The overall is quite good, very nice location (3 mins from train station),having no staffs is a very interesting experience. However, all the heating system was off in the midnight and we didn\'t know it couldn\'t be turned on until the next morning we were told by the owner, basically it was pretty cold over night because there was no heating.

Well i can't rate the staff because there aren't any! but if you can get over that then this is actually quite a nice place to stay, its clean, warm and secure. The place also has good facilities (including wifi, kitchen and laundry) and is walking distance to town (1.5 miles / 2.4 kilometres to the lake).

Over priced as didn't have any staff on site. Unhelpful when we did phone them. Tiny, cramped rooms with very uncomfortable beds. Stay in a YHA in the lake district instead.

Owner Comment (Show)
Hi Natasha, I am sorry you felt the room was tiny. This is a 6 bed room and for 2 of the nights, there was only the 2 of you and one or two other people at most. I will certainly look into the mattresses in there, as we have a policy of changing them regularly. The price of £15 is a lot cheaper than any of the hostels in the area.
