Good budget option, make sure to go in high season as much of koh lanta goes into hibernation for the low season.
It's certainly not a social hostel, but the rooms are cheap, spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff are lovely, helpful and can get you good discounts on transfers etc, but they are not always around during the day. It's pretty far from the beach but you can borrow a (slightly sketchy) bicycle for free as long as you are back by 6pm. There is a toaster, microwave and fridge which is rare in Thailand! They provide towels and toiletries, but I didn't actually see any tea or coffee!
We went willing to stay just a couple of days. We ended up staying almost one week. The first impression of the hostel is not so positive: it is quite far away from the best beaches, no 24 hour reception, no safe. Though the staff (a family with a small kid) was really kind to us, provided us with guidance about the key attractions of the island, free bicycle to ride around the town (just possible to go to 3 or 4 beaches nearby, good wifi, microwave, fridge. Good value for money in the end.
It's a really nice place to stay with a low budget. The owner and his wife are really nice and try to help you wherever they can. There are quite many rules though and only one bathroom for 4 rooms which could be a little annoying in high season. But everything is clean and the air con is working :)
Excellent value for money, this place was clean and comfortable but our room did get very hot only having a fan. Did not sleep well but due to other inconsiderate guests not the hostel staff. A little far from the beach but they have bikes you can borrow. It's true what other reviews say about the rules- there are a lot of them! Lacking in atmosphere but if you want somewhere cheap and cheerful this is the place.
We needed a place for 2 days as we arrived on Lanta early. It was right in the middle of Saladan town, so quick walk to restaurants, scuba shops. The rooms were nice and clean and the owner was friendly. The only real problem we had was that the rooms had almost no air circulation as the windows faced the hall. All in all, good place to stay, not exactly a place to hang out or meet people though.
The building is old , carmpy and HOT after the afternoon sun. No lounge area for socialising. No deask top PC.
