Very good bed, good food and good bathroom..

I was expecting much better from the hostel, and i feel bad having to leave such negative rating, but i want you to be aware of improvements that could be made. Bedding supplied was not clean (pillows and others in the hostel; said about dirty sheets). The attitude of staff was not helpful at all and there was not a feeling of being able to approach them. The A/C issue is crazy - not being able to have it on in the day? And when it is on the door to the room doesn't close, and its too loud.

We stayed here just for one night because it was close to the airport. In a 12 bed dorm peoples stuff was absolutely everywhere and also empty alcohol bottles. There is also a cat that sleeps on the beds. Small lockers in room (which you should use). Kitchen area is good and pretty good breakfast however Lapa is a rough area and the people staying at this hostel were there to party and not really consider others. Not a nice vibe.

This is a great hostel to spend the weekend. In 7 days in Rio I booked three hostels: Copacabana 3 nights, Lapa 2, Botafogo. Lapa hostel is perfect for anyone interested in partying in Lapa. The FREE CAIPIRINHA is true, goes from 9 to 11pm on fridays and saturdays, and it brings all guests together. So it's easy to meet people while drinking, and then go out to party together in Lapa, be it in a club or just walking the streets. In the street, look for the 750ml caipirinha for 6 reais.

Staff was very friendly and helpful with recommending places and explaining how to use the public transport options. Kitchen was big and very clean with all cooking utensils available (and a microwave, which is not always common). Free caipirinhas on Friday and Saturday nights were delicious. Lapa area is vibrant and not too unsafe at night

The room was spacious, with lots of lockers. breakfast was very nice for the price. Staff was always superfriendly, ready to tell you when and where to go. Besides that I met many friendly people there. Tha caipirinha night was really cool. once in Rio i will be there again.

good hostel, with friendly and helpful staff. Location is good for lapa and the central area, but travelling to major tourist destinations (copacabana, sugar loaf and the christ) takes a bit of time. seems to cater for a mainly brazillian crowd, but good if you want to learn portugese and mingle with locals. a lot cheaper than many hostels, and far from luxurious, but value for money non the less (i stayed over new year, with costs a third less than many other hostels)

I didn´t had warm water that day when I stayed there, but was managed with a discount.

Great location but absolutely nothing else going for it. Some of the staff were rude, never seen so much mould in a bathroom in my life and there was barely anyone else there

Great place next to the best party in Rio!!! ;-)

Lapa hostel was awesome. I had previously stayed in another hostel in the neighbourhood which had no character or "cozy" feel. The breakfast was great and the people super friendly. There is even a wii! I would definitely stay there again.

the 4 bed room had no natural light, the ventilator was very noisy, the staff would watch TV or play loud music, late at night...

Lapa hostel is a nice hostel, although there are a lot of people in a room. Twenty people in a room is a lot, although they made the room quit nice with enough space for everybody.

I had a good stay at this hostel. The location is pretty good and people are very nice. My only complaint is that there was mold in the bathrooms, which among other things caused an unpleasant smell. Other than that the facilities were clean though! I'd definitely stay here again.
