We really enjoyed our stay at that cosy hostel. Especially the welcoming and charming owners set new standards of hospitality. We will surely come back one day.

We did not feel very welcome, since the host was obviously irritated when we arrived at 11 to already drop our luggage. When we came back in the afternoon at 15.50 for check in, she was unconcered, because we were a bit early. Even though there should have been hot water, after leaving the water running for five minutes, the water was cold. We missed something savory at breakfast. We expected more hospitality from someone who opens their home for guests and a more positive attitude towards us.

Well I am very sorry that you felt unfriendly to be able to drop your luggage outside hours, and also collect them outside hours. You were warned that since this is an old mansion you have you wait a couple of minutes to get hot water. About breakfast, if you feel that hot croissants, french baguette, homemade cake, cereal bread, chocolate brioche, fruit, cheese and yogourt is not enough, perhaps you may try a five star hotel. I have especially low rates for Hostelworld guests as you know

We stayed here for two nights in June. We had an excellent time using it as a base to explore the wider region & Lille itself. The accommodation is perhaps a half hour tram ride from the city centre of Lille. It is a unique place for us to have stayed - like an old mansion converted into a B&B with a huge garden. Very clean and modern bathrooms. Breakfast was also delicious. There is also a great terrace in the garden to relax or eat in. To top it off our host Alex was very friendly and helpful.
