Wi-fi was so bad it detracted from my trip- took an hour just to check e-mails. The bar upstairs is nice, but always empty. This is probably because it is expensive and doesn't allow any outside food/drink. Overall a solid place to stay, but not perfect by any means.

The room, location, facilities were amazing, the only thing that could be improved is the staff. I found the reception were pleasant but not extremely helpful. It's hard going to a city which isn't particularly touristy and having to figure everything out by your self. Trying to find some places to visit when everyone else is just doing their typically work day can be frustrating, so I wish the staff were a little bit more interested in providing us with info to make it a memorable stay.

Love that place, would always stay here again. Only annoying thing is that the doorms are on the ground floor. If you have crazy french with you, it can get pretty noisy during the night.

This place was a gem! We will always stay there when we come to Shanghai which is actually pretty often now! Great location, easy to get everywhere and just a fun neighborhood right around the hostel! LeTour staff helped up find Krispy Kreme when we called them, even though we had already checked out! Muffin shop near Burger King...AMAZ...and the Spa just blocks away(We went twice 2 days in a row!)...a great retreat!! We had a great girls weekend! Thanks Hostelworld for the hook-up!

The staff was really nice and helpful and the hostel had a lot of charm. Only stayed for one night, but it was a very enjoyable experience.

Slightly difficult to find at first, but it's well worth it! Good, clean and safe hostel with space and kind faces! Very well priced! I opted for the double private and was happy to have the extra space! Facilities are good! Will stay here again!

This is easily one of my favourite hostels. The staff are fun and the common areas are great and well appointed for meeting people. There are also some really great hotel-like facilities like a rooftop garden and sauna. Met some amazing friends there. The terracotta warriors tour is worth doing for the guide jaja. Rooms are comfortable, but the shower floods the whole bathroom, which is a little annoying.

i'm the first times stay in Shanghai hostel. The room is quite small compare to Kunming hostel, this is may cause the high land price in Shanghai. However, the location is very convenient to travel around shanghai because it's located near subway stations. The room is very clean, the hot water is excellent, but the internet is very slow. I cannot download any reports to check my work. If u want to stay in quite atmosphere within the center of shanghai with very nice service, it's your choice!!!

The staff were perhaps the rudest we've met in China to date. They would hardly look up from their computers to answer any questions. I don't expect staff to greet you like a long lost friend, but it's not too difficult to fake a professional courteous manner when dealing with guests - they didn't even bother to try. Perhaps they are just sick of loud mouthed arrogant foreign tourists? Other than that the place was pretty good. Maybe because of staff attitude, it lacks atmosphere.

Cozy and comfortable. We got a 6-person dorm, and I liked the fact that each bed had its own little nightlight. There's a pool table, a ping-pong table, and some relaxing rooms with soft couches and chairs to read magazines and lounge around in. The internet was really slow, but who needs internet when on vacation? The staff was REALLY friendly. I accidentally (and oh so embarrassingly) passed out in the living room on New Year's, and i woke the next morning with a blanket around me. :)

+++ Very nice place, friendly and competent staff, clean and well mantained. Excellent central and at the same time quiet location near Metro station Jing'an Temple. We came back today because we really enjoyed our first stay. - It would be even better if there was a cooking appliance in the kitchen (oven, cooker or heat-plate) except a microwave in the kitchen and if the WiFi in the basement would be working (no connectivity).

Stayed many times when visiting Shanghai, always a good option. Never had a booking mix up or any problem in 10-15 stays

Their internet doesn't work. The staff will lie and tell you that there's something wrong with your computer, but there isn't. My computer worked fine on other wireless networks and VLAN networks, just not in the hostel. It's terrible how the staff will lie about things like this. Fix it!
