Hostel accommodation on Leiden is rare. This place is pretty basic but perfectly fine and very cheap if you are a no frills traveller. The location is good being nice and central and the permanent resident who is in charge is a delight and very helpful and friendly. As a 57 year old solo traveller it was a bit like being back at boarding school and made me feel very young and adaptable.

My room was in a very old apartment where a mature foreign couple lives. It was clean and neat though, but there were almost always dirty dishes in the sink. The owners of the apartment were friendly and greeted me warmly upon my arrival.

Small but cozy shared apartment. Excellent location in the historic centre (about 15-20 mins walk from Central Station), with lovely canal views and nearby shops. The caretaker made me feel very welcome; is helpful and friendly and she is a mine of local information! I would recommend renewing the shower room and improving shower pressure. This comfortable accommodation would suit friendly, undemanding female travelers.
