We enjoyed our stay. The people were friendly and not on the internet so everybody had time to talk. Wonderful.

Good aspects: very nice place to relax and discover the city which is very accesible bia the train right beside the hostel, also the kitchen is mice and functionnal, all the facilities are kept cleen daily, the room was also nice and clean and comfy. Warning there are dogs walking around... The hot water works well and the showers too. Bad aspects: there is not really a backpacker vibe there, it is more of a place to stay long term, no movies, small tv

Light House Lodge is a great place to stay. If they could work on a few things it will be excellent. They should provide an alternate number. We were trying to reach the hostel and couldn't. Ended up driving around as there is no exact location in the GPS. The taxi drivier had a hard time looking for it. And also paid more than twice for taxi. Also need someone on the premises to take care of guests. Had to ask other guests about every little detail.

i spent several days in the hostel. It is not in the center of Cape but very good place close to the train station ( 5 min walk ). I really felt confortable in this place, with a nice view on the mountain around Cape, in a green area with some gardens. The house is well maintained by Helen and the friendly and smily staf. Everything is organised and clean inside. The kitchen is fully equiped and you can find all what you need to cook,or to keep your food (big fridges, lockerts)

Our stay was good and wonderful. However, toilet facilities are not enough, for example there was only one toilet (for sitting) available for men and it was even in a faulty condition. We would recommend the place to anyone with the corrections and upgrading of facilities. Thanks!!

It's a bit far if you don't have a car, but if you do, it's a breeze to go downtown, you're there in no time. Loved this place and the owners, Helen and John, are awesome people.

A great stay, with some excellent services courtesy of the manager/owner Helen Harper. Well placed out of town, but adjacent to the train into town for those without wheels and for those with - 15 minutes into town. Helen and her partner met us off the plane at Cape Town International and, then later the same evening, met others in our group from the Jo'burg train. Lodge secure in an 'enviro' centre with perimeter fence and road entrance guards. Downside? Lack of cleanliness around the edge.

Lighthouse Lodge was excellent for our stay as to location, price etc. We (my 15 year old daughter and myself) were only using it as a base, we were out a lot. Staff excellent and helpful. Very friendly place. Rooms basic, but great for us. Fantastic view of Table mountain. Lively atmosphere. Only drawback - cockroaches in kitchen.

The stay was good, hoping to stay again for my next visit at cape town. I like the fact that it is affordable too.

Out of the city centre and away from the noise - just what we needed after all the World Cup Madess and all our travels! A great Cape Town excape while still close to everything and just a 10 min ride away from the centre of town on the train (and just 14R return!) Helen is a wonderful hostess and the rest of the staff a pleasure. If you want somewhere to relax after a long day of sightseeing and touring about this is a great place to consider.

What at first looks like your in the wrong place and very close to a Township and hence not very safe you soon realise that this area has been set up specifically to be self sustaining, and even when we went out at night via the train we didn't feel in danger, but that was during the world cup so lots of people about. Our room was small but for a hostel that's what you expect, excellent cooking facilities but no WiFi in room available. Fairly clean and the staff are very friendly.

a little cold (some heating would help), but other than that everything was great.

A good stay, only it neededa train journey into town each time.

During the world cup the access roads to the City were closed so it was useless to take the lodge shuttle in. Cape Town City requested all lodges to ask guests to use public transport.

very hosty people... enjoyed it, only problem not so good located

We are 10 minutes from the City by car or train, and the nearest lodge to the airport ( 7 minutes away). Our niche is that we are a green friendly ECO village and more and more people want to see the permaculture farming, renewable energy, and the social interaction of all races living and working together.

We had some muggers trying to take stuff from outside the room's windows.

The 5 teenagers saw money in the form of soccer fans and tried their best, distracting the security to one side of the building while trying their luck on the other side. We have now added a security dog so that the dog is sent off around the building. very effective.

Thank you for having some appreciation.

To fare from the city center!

Lighthouse Lodge's advertising is misleading in that it says the hostel is located next to Table Mountain - it's not! It's a taxi ride away, as train is not always (during holiday season) safe to use. Area looks a bit dodgy but the hostel in itself is very clean and nice.
