Expensive alternatives must keep this hostel in business. Why else would anyone choose it? The staff appear indifferent, the kitchen is cramped & very poorly equipped (it reflects a lack of care), the toilet & shower facilities are basic & inadequate, & the rooms are also very basic. There's a lack of hooks to hang things, the bedding is too short for even a short person (I'm 5ft 6ins) and either my feet or shoulders hung out all night. With some basic care & thought this COULD be a good hostel.

Relatively cheap for Switzerland good location. Nothing special but okay for a couple of nights.

The hostel wasn't clean enough - especially the kitchen swamps (with which you use for washing dishes) could be changed more often! Honestly!!! We found 3 toilets and in 2 of them there was no toilet paper at the same time! Also the shower was pretty unpleasant for women because there was no place for changing.

Was just fine for a night. Closest hostel I found to old town. Price not bad compared to other places around, though Lucerne has quite inflated prices even compared to the rest of Switzerland. Lion monument maybe 3 minutes away, grocery also 3 minutes away (was closed when I was there due to public holiday). Lockers in the rooms, guy at reception was helpful when I asked questions. Bathroom was a bit small. Very old staircase was super loud. Large common room with many tables.

1. I wanted to use the toilet. It was around 8pm, and no toilet paper. When I asked the manager why it wasn't changed at noon when the cleaning is done, it seems his hostel is different and I am supposed to come and request him, and he'll replace 30 minutes later! 2. Kitchen closes at 9:30, and he reprimands me for starting to cook at 8:50 pm, since it was cleaned! Why would anyone close so early?! And opens only at 8am. 3. Only one power socket per room?! 4. No heater in room. It was cold.

Good value for money because Switzerland is very expensive, good location. Bedroom is ok, but only 1 shower for female in each floor.

The place was not so great. Location was good. No parking place available. We happened to reach a bit late and found that there was no drinking water provided in the room. Also the kitchen was locked so had to wander around the place to get some water to drink.

It's not a bad place, but really not the best!! It's a place to sleep nothing more, no help from the staff, no suggestion for things to do. No breakfest available. You have to arrive after 4pm and leave before 10 am!!! For me, it was like they just want your monney and nothing more. Not the spirit of a hostel. It'And it's really expensive!!

only one shower per floor. very inconvenient for the women. hostel was not the cleanest. very safe feeling though, in decent location. a bit of a hike from the train station, but old town is very accessible. great cheap place to stay for one night when passing through.

the best value of this hostel is the close location to the Lion Monument. around 10-15 minutes walk to the train station. they don't offer a free bus pass like other cities in Switzerland, such as Geneva and Zurich.

Lion Lodge was a good place to stay on a budget, and was much nicer than other hostels I have stayed at for the same price. The rooms were big, the security was good (the lockers could fit a whole suitcase), and the common room was nice. There wasn't a whole lot of character in the rooms because it was the typical sterile hostile set up with multiple bunk beds, but the location was great, right by the famous Lion sculpture, and within a moderate walking distance from Lake Lucerne and old town.

Nice comfy beds, fairly good kitchen, showers, computer, wifi etc. Staff gave us information on how to get to shops etc. Pretty pricey but most of Switzerland is. The hostel was a good place to explore Luzern from and Luzern is very beautiful. Thanks :)

The hostel is dirty, the staff is very rude and the internet only works at the reception. Check in can only be done from 16h which makes it very difficult journey for someone who is passing through. They steal money from clients, it does not warn that only accept Swiss francs and there when you try to pay in euros, charge you much more than was agreed in the booking site. Never want to go back there! I do not recommend to anyone.

The place is very good. The hotel is located near the center and the train station. The room is quite clean. The kitchen is not so good. there is only 1 electric stove that work well. The microwave and the refrigerator are good.if you stay only 1-2 nights is OK for that
