Lisbon Poets Hostel says
As soon as the guest comes in, we make sure to learn their name and always greet them with a smile. They know they can count on a friendly face and a small chat whenever they want to. Usually, when we manage to get the guests to get together in our lounge for dinner, they stay there chatting for hours. They have a selection of books to choose from but mainly the guests enjoy the open areas and sit on the poufs just enjoying each others' company and chatting with a glass of Port or Ginjinha.

We have specific staff members that are solely dedicated to the well-being of the guests - their main job is to ensure they have the best possible experience. This creates a very homely and cosy atmosphere, and the guests are able to feel the true character of the Portuguese people. As soon as you walk through the doors, you feel that this is not your common hostel with IKEA furniture and standardised decor. This hostel was created by poets and artists, and it shows. The colour palette is warm and rich, the walls are covered in unique artwork, illustrations and kitsch memorabilia.
We have free tours and other activities that help the guests feel included and help them to live for a few hours in the shoes of a local. For instance, our Café Crawl takes them to a few historical spots and takes them off the beaten track. Personally, I always tell guests to take a tour of the recently renewed kiosks and enjoy the view from several of them, which are placed on lookouts. These kiosks have the traditional delicious pastries and the insurmountable shot of espresso that no Portuguese lives without.Hostelworld Guests Say
