Terrible room, impossible to sleep after 6 am because of noise and unbearable heat. Very unsafe and noisy area, close to favela. Staff is friendly but sometimes not in their position to work. Not enough shower rooms for all the guests and certainly overpriced for the poor quality of its services.

Very good Staff! Not so close to the beach, but this is good ´cause you can go walking and feeling the city. Thank you guys!!!

The hostel was in a great location and very good however our room needed air conditioning! Apart from that, good value for money.

The double room I stayed at was really nice and pretty good looking. Overall the place is very nice, and since it doesn't have many rooms, it doesn't get packed. The atmosphere of the place and treatment you get are very good. The only draw back would be that it is placed on the beginning of the hill of a pacified favela. The access isn't the best as you have to go a couple of blocks up the hill to get there. Despite being in a favela, it is pacified and safe, with a police car parked on front.

I seriously have no idea why this hostel has such good reviews. The location is aweful, not only because you have to carry your stuff up the hill, but because you have to climb it up and down every time to get to/ away from the hostel. There is also no Metro station closeby which is always a BIG minus. When I was there, (Sunday evening) I almost went insane, because you heard music from four different spots simultaneously and until late at night. It is clean though and the staff is friendly.

We did not sleep during the whole night during we stayed here. First of all it was really too hot, as there was no van available. Than there is a Brasilian bar next door. Till 5 o'clock it was very much too loud!

We stayed at the Lisetonga for over a week and enjoyed our time there so much. The staff are helpfull and friendly and all the people we met traveling there were awesome. Yes it is in a favella but DONT let that put you off it is totally safe and staying in a favella is pretty cool just be aware of you're surroundings. Would reccomend this hostel to anybody going to RIo.

Very nice hostel, easy to meet people. Located near favela, but not a problem as there are so many police around. Makes it safer than places away from favelas.

it's a good Hostel, just the location no very good, wich is on the hill of the favela chapeu mangueira, so imagine yourself with a big lugagge all the way up, got there all sweating and there was no taxi to take you up hill,(ROAD WORK) bad experience, but i survived,loL.

Staff was great, very helpful. It's a very safe area, never felt threatened at all. Breakfast is very good too and they have happy hour from 20.00 - 21.30 which is great. The hostel is not so big so you connect more to the other guests which is really nice. I would go there again any time. It's much nicer than the other hostel I stayed at in Rio. It's up a hill but only 10 minutes walk or so from the beach and less to the supermarket.

Great hostel. If you don´t like steep hills then you won´t like walking up to this hostel. But you kind of get used to it. We initially only planned on staying for 7 nights but ended up staying for 12. Great breakfasts, very clean, awesome staff! Will definitely stay here again when I go back to Rio!

It should be clear on the site that it is located about 200 meters up the hill of Morro Chapéu Mangueira, a slum, a "favela". Even though it seemed to be safe, I think it would be more honest to make it clear. When I booked there was no review mentioning that fact. Besides that, the hostel is quite noisy day and night, due to noise that comes from the street, from both the sport and music court in front of the hostel and the bars around. As for the breakfast, I hate it when there is no baguette.

The location of the hostel is great, and although the neighborhood looks rough it is very safe, with police around all the time. The staff is helpful and the place is very close to the beach. I really like the place and will surely come back on my next trip to Rio.

On of the better hostels I stayed on my southamerica journey. Hostel is a bit on a hill but still in walking distance to Copacabana beach. The way it is set up and the rooms are allocated provides a good atmosphere. I met a lot of nice people in the hostel. Good breakfast incl scrumbled eggs & sausages. Although the hostel was fully booked when I was there it seems comparetively quiet.
