The rooms were clean and very basic, nothing to special about the atmosphere. You are essentially staying in a bedroom of the house also lived in by the owners. The house is in a safe residential neighborhood. About a 20 minute drive from downtown. The owners make delicious breakfasts every morning for their guests, and are a delight to talk to, very friendly and helpful.

We stayed two nights at the hostel and enjoyed it a lot. The owners are really friendly and helpful. The only thing one could complain about is that the breakfast, although better than in the most hostels, is not as plenty and good as described in the profile.

I really enjoyed staying at Little Retreat. It was a very calm and safe place. There were some rules to be followed, but I think that this made a great atmosphere. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and with a bonus: nice talk to the owners, who were very helpful and friendly.

The location may not seem to be "prime" but as my gf and I found out it was very nice to escape the downtown area as it was more quite around that area. Also if you have a car its a 10 min. drive to DT and on the bus which is right up the street from the hostel is a 20-25 min. bus ride. Fresh made breakfast each morning was always a pleasure and great start to the day. Very friendly folks that run the Little Retreat.

What we didn't like so much was: the notes everywhere of what we could(n't) do, the towels weren't refreshed, the room was not attractive (2 different paints on 1 wall. What we liked: the breakfast was really good, 2 times totally different ; a nice conversation with the owners ; the bathroom was near our room.
