This "hostel" is just someone's house with some bedrooms converted. If you just need a bed to sleep in and don't mind not being in the city and don't want to socialise with other hostellers, then this place is not too bad. The bed was the most comfy hostel bed I've ever slept on.

We spent 2 nights in this B&B. It's not an official kind of B&B but more a couple who rent the rooms in their private house. Our room was spacious and very clean. Also the bathrooms were very clean. The only annoying thing was that you can't lock the bathroom door, so that it happened that someone just walked in the bathroom while I was in there (which was very uncomfortable). Very good and fast wifi connection and an excellent breakfast! We can recommend this place, good place for a good price.

We really enjoyed staying here. The hosts were very accommodating and made us feel welcome. Will stay here again next time we come up to Vancouver.

The rooms were clean and very basic, nothing to special about the atmosphere. You are essentially staying in a bedroom of the house also lived in by the owners. The house is in a safe residential neighborhood. About a 20 minute drive from downtown. The owners make delicious breakfasts every morning for their guests, and are a delight to talk to, very friendly and helpful.

We stayed two nights at the hostel and enjoyed it a lot. The owners are really friendly and helpful. The only thing one could complain about is that the breakfast, although better than in the most hostels, is not as plenty and good as described in the profile.

I really enjoyed staying at Little Retreat. It was a very calm and safe place. There were some rules to be followed, but I think that this made a great atmosphere. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and with a bonus: nice talk to the owners, who were very helpful and friendly.

The location may not seem to be "prime" but as my gf and I found out it was very nice to escape the downtown area as it was more quite around that area. Also if you have a car its a 10 min. drive to DT and on the bus which is right up the street from the hostel is a 20-25 min. bus ride. Fresh made breakfast each morning was always a pleasure and great start to the day. Very friendly folks that run the Little Retreat.

What we didn't like so much was: the notes everywhere of what we could(n't) do, the towels weren't refreshed, the room was not attractive (2 different paints on 1 wall. What we liked: the breakfast was really good, 2 times totally different ; a nice conversation with the owners ; the bathroom was near our room.

really sweet people, great breakfast, its a bit out of town, but the bus is super easy

The friendly safe atmosphere and great breakfasts made up for the distance from downtown...and it was only a 20 minute direct bus. I liked this much better than the previous hostels I had stayed in downtown.

Wow! What a great place, nice, good price, great breakfasts, fun staff! Perfect place to see Vancouver. HOWEVER, it is kind of far to the city, but very safe. If you don't mind taking awile to get to the city this place is perfect.

This was the best guesthouse we've ever stayed in! The owners were super helpful and friendly. They had abundant knowledge about the town and surrounding areas and offered helpful hints on stuff to do and places to see. The breakfasts - ahhh the breakfasts- these were by far one of the best parts about this place. Waffles, french toast, eggs, etc. A different meal everyday prepared right before your eyes with fruit out of the back garden and natural and whole grain foods and breads. The whole place was amazing. It was situated outside of town a little bit but so easy to get into town - just one short bust ride. Well worth it. Very quiet, but great travellers to talk to. We made friends with people from russia, new zealand, and of course, canadians! I would recommend this place to everyone. If you like good service, great people, and awesome food you will love it here!
