A very good and cheap hostel. The best, the owner of the hostel, the worst, not too funny atmosphere. Very clean and confortable.
One of the cheapest spots we've found in SE Asia. No lockers, which is a bummer, but the woman who runs the place is a real gem and offers to store your valuables with her for the day. She even picked up our tickets to Singapore from the bus station for us, and gave us map of the town too. Very close to the river, Little India, and the street market. You will not find a cheaper place in Melaka, that's for certain.
Location is good as it is a walking city and everything is within walking distance anyway. But the place is really hard to find as there is no sign or address and i had to ask several people. There is 1 bathroom/toilet for 3 dorms (maybe 24ppl?) but surprisingly it was never a problem. There is no real common area where people can hang out but everyone just sat on the stairs which worked fairly well. Also the owner is a really nice welcoming lady and you do feel at home as soon as you meet her.
Mrs. Reno is such a lovely host. She is a very talk-active person. She welcoming you like one of her relatives, and it is trully feels like you're staying on your Melaka's aunty's house. She gave us a room of 3 bunk beds instead of 8 beds, and it is pretty private. Thank's for your kindness Mrs. Reno. Sadly, the bathroom need improvement, especially the toilet. But there's a hot water.
The owner (Mrs. Reno) is very kind and attentive. She still wait for my midnight arrival. It feels that i stay at my relatives. I really feel the peranakan house atmosphere. Near to heritage place (5 minutes walk). Small but homey.
