Property Description

The Lord Wolseley Hotel is also one of the oldest and smallest pubs in Sydney and certainly one of the most original. It has operated non-stop since 1881. We have great food and basic, clean and spacious accommodation at very reasonable rates.

We have queen ensuite rooms as well as queen and twin-single rooms with shared bathroom facilities. There is a bathroom for every non-ensuite room

We are happy to offer 15% off food and beverage from our bar and restaurant for all guests for the entire duration of their stay.

Free Hi-speed WiFi in every room. All rooms have ceiling fans, and large opening windows

While we do have a kitchenettes for guests on both floors of accommodation - the facilities are limited to toasters, microwaves and kettles.

We are also only several minutes walk from Sydney's world famous Chinatown , which boasts affordable dining options from all over the world.

There is a picturesque cliff-top park one-minute walk away that has free public barbecue/cooking facilities - and great sunset views!

Our restaurant serves affordable and delicious meals for lunch and dinner Wednesday through to Sunday. Our ground floor public bar closes at midnight at the latest and is open 7 days.

The Lord Wolseley is a hotel that competes with hostels on price point. Although the only large common areas for guests are the bar, restaurant (and park-side seating), it is a great place to relax and meet other guests and local people.

We also have some of Australia's best jazz musicians play in the park every Sunday afternoon (weather permitting).

LOCATION:

We are conveniently located near Chinatown and Central Station (Sydney's main train station) in a quiet and leafy part of historic Ultimo, adjacent to a park. Darling Harbour is a 5 minute walk away and colourful Glebe, with its markets and cafes is a ten minute stroll.

Also nearby are Surry Hills, Darlinghurst and Newtown; famous for nightlife, cafes and restaurants. Once you have seen the major attractions our staff can give local advice that isn't in the guide books.

Great place to stay in a nice area, 5 minute walk into Darling Harbour. Rooms were basic but clean though take mozzie spray as the greenery outside attracts them. No elevator or aircon in the rooms but ceiling fan was sufficient though only open windows with fly screens (see above ref mozzies). Great little bar with friendly staff and the bistro served some of the best pub grub I have eaten in a long time. Prices were reasonable and the 15% residents discount helped stretch the budget.

If you’re looking for a quiet “bed and breakfast” style hostel in the heart of Sydney then you’ll love this. However we felt although it was cosy it lacked a few facilities such as no hob or oven in kitchen or storage space in the rooms for clothes. It lacked the social element we looked for in a Sydney hostel, no effort for evening activities. However it was nice to have a bar and restaurant right underneath us. We stayed 3 nights in a double room

This place offers just basic amenities, but some improvements are needed. The lack of A/C is a problem. They did offer us to use the office fan, but our nights were still pretty miserable. The building is a little run down, but not terrible. There was a cigarette smell in the hallways which I did not appreciate. The room was basic but clean. Overall, I think it’s overpriced for what you get.
