We had a really good time at Las Encuentros. It's a cute little, quiet hostel with very friendly and helpful owners. Clean, centrally located, Wifi, kitchen – everything you need! We would definitely stay here again. PS: Irma helped us to organize our onward journey to El Salvador - it worked out perfectly and a lot cheaper than what the agencies had to offer.

The best part was the family that ran it. Irma is warm, friendly, & genuinely interested in making your trip the best it can possibly be. We booked several tours through her (all of which are totally worth the money) & she provided breakfast. The hotel is very secure & requires a key to enter the building. IMO, too expensive ($33/night during Semana Santa) as it was pretty much on par with cheaper hostels I've been to, & the kitchen/dishes weren't the cleanest. Overall, good experience.

If you are looking for a place in Antigua in an excellent location, a pleasant ambience and decent facilities, but want to save your money for shopping, you can't go wrong with Los Encuentros. It's nothing fancy, but if you are travelling on a budget and don't need any frills, it works perfectly. And the proprietor's friendliness and helpfulness is definitely a bonus. It feels a lot like being in someone's home. I recommend it

Los Encuentros Hotel is very well situated within the city, anything you could possibly want to see or experience is within a short walk. It's a great place to stay if you're looking for a quiet and safe place to lay your head at night. Not for the super social types looking to party, though, as there isn't really a common area for gatherings. A definite plus is the proprietor is extremely friendly and welcoming and she takes very good care of her guests!

Irma who owns Los Encuentros is a very gracious host as well as helpful. I don't have much experience with hostels, but it was quiet and I slept well. There was a load of fresh fruit on our plates for breakfast which I also appreciated. I also felt very secure there and appreciated the fresh air space off the street once we were inside the front door.

Here is the deal. Seniora Irma who runs this place is very sweet and helpful. Since my flight to Mexico City was at 8pm, she let me stay till 5pm without extra charge, even though check out time was at 11am. It was not mentioned in other reviews that Los Encuentros hotel is a converted house. It´s a low-key, basic (cold water), inexpensive place. The family lives there, so please do not expect a lot of socializing with other guests on their property.
