I only spent a single night at los palmeros but the wonderful staff and the very individual atmosphere made the short time in las palmas very especial. Location in la isleta is great. If you are looking for a nice little hostel for cheap money and you enjoy a rather personal atmosphere than just random treatment like one of many tourists it could be the place of choice. I would definetly return if i come back to gran canaria. The view from the rooftop terrasse is incomparable.

Put simply, Los Palmeros is the place to be for you - if you are looking for an uncomplicated lodging with an alternative feel to it and a great sense of style - if you're not averse to contact with people from a working-class canarian neighbourhood and a house where local history is valued - if you prefer a beer/a glass of wine from the deli next door and the starry sky above you to tawdry movie nights and pub-crawls

Great hostel and incredibly good value! It seems like the hostel has gone through a management change and facelift since the beginning of the year so I wouldn't pay too much attention to the poor reviews this place has received before. It's got a lovely terrace which overlooks the city, there are bicycles you can use free of charge - all in all, a fantastic deal for only 10 euros a night!

The place itself was horrible, and they obviously have no control over their booking system as we were directed to a windowless and sad bunk bed room instead of the double bed room we had booked. After complaining to management we were transferred to a cheap hotel were we had to change rooms after the first night. After the second night we suddenly were told to move to a third place - six o'clock in the evening!

"Hi there, thanks for taking the time to leave valuable feedback and sorry to hear about your bad experience. As of the beginning of 2014, the hostel is under the new management by an established and locally owned hostel brand. We are working hard to address all the issues you and other travellers have raised and we are doing our best to turn Los Palmeros into one of the best places to stay in town!”

Too short time being there to be more precise concerning the assessment.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Like others, the bathrooms are horrendous, you have to ask for toilet paper, the "kitchen" is two burners in a small space for one thin person, wifi only on rooftop. But, this is 10€/night and walking distance from beach. What really got me is the workers (no English) got in a yelling fight with another guest, you could hear them in the street. Police came so I helped the guest, the cop asks me WHY I was staying in the hostel and suggested i go elsewhere. you have been warned

The kitchen is a little bit too small for the hostel.

The hostel is cheap so it's the reason why tourists are still coming there. However, most of them would never visit it again. 1. cockroaches in rooms, 2. rooms and toilets are not clean enough, 3. the man from the reception doesn't speak English at all. 4. there is still problem with toilet paper. Once I was told : "Don't eat too much". 5. the kitchen is too small, dirty and not supplied sufficiently with cutlery, pots and dishes. Lack of cattle, microwave, washing machine and reading lamps.

Cheap way to enjoy Las Palmas surfcity with the best local experience ! Simple facilities for a good stay, the beds are comfortable. We stayed while the change of management & we saw the service improve a lot. Really cool atmosphere and the terrace is always in the sun. Walking distance to wild confital bay, shopping district and las canteras beach, only the surfing area la cicer is a bit far ! Served with the bus to principal station and city center. We stayed 3 weeks & loved it !! Merci :) !!!

The room was moldy and not very welcoming. No toilet paper or towels or hand soap. The staff spoke no English. They tried to charge us more and also tried to give us a dorm when we booked a private room. location is okay but not that great. The kitchen was almost non existent wirh barely any equipment. Would never go back.

Cheap hostel in a great location that attracts fun budget travellers. Really needs to work on cleanliness

The atmosphere was absolutely frightful. The photos are deceiving. The building is in fairly poor shape. My room had dozens of COCKROACHES, mostly in the bathroom, which was never cleaned properly, and almost never supplied with toilet paper, as well as more cockroaches under my bed and in the closet. The matress was terrible; it took me ages to get to sleep because of springs digging into my side. Any sort of social life in the common area on the roof was non-existant.

The atmosphere in the hostel was sordid. The common areas are very poorly equipped. However the rooms are fine.

+: close enough to the beach, quiet street, nice rooftop with good view -: the warm blankets are used several times for guests without washing them, fresh sheets are only 1 layer so you always have the dirty one on your skin as well. rooms only cleaned once a week, toiletpaper must be thrown in an open trash can, can be smelly cause bathroom and toilet are in the 4person rooms, other guests said they had only cold water and it was flooding the bathroom gas bottle(kitchen) often empty

We had been told that we couldn't stay in this hostel and so they got us to another one.It was absolutely awful! And of course i am rating for this one.Although we had paid for having kitchen or a fridge sth, there was nothing and the staff didn't want to help us.He told us that we had to communicate with the first hostel that we had booked and manage this mess.We had already bought things that needed fridge.A total mess!!!It was very dirty and not secure.I wouldn't recommend it!
