Love Lane Inn is a great place to stay if budget accommodation is what you are looking for The location is great, just off Lebuh Chuila. Great food around. Mike, the guy at reception it the best this place has to offer, he is a real host. Will give you accurate advice, good recommendstions, and he even gave us and other guests a little tour around the city. Would definitely come back next time in Penang!

This is the definition of a cheap hostel, the staff were a little in personable and this then reflects onto the other guests. At first you think that your room is going to be a sweat box but the AC needs a little bit of time to cool it down, wifi is good but the common area isn't a place that you feel like hanging around, you find yourself staying out just so when you arrive back you will sleep easy, it says breakfast included but when you arrive the sign clearly reads BREADfast

LIKE: - Fresh lines - Free WI-FI ( limited time ) DISLIKE : - No internet connection after 23pm and before 9am - No electricity plug-in in dorm room - In 8 bed room were 9 beds - The boss of the hostel is nice, but other workers are very rude and unhelpful - Location could be a little bit closer to the happenings - Dirty toilets - No doors in a dorm Next time i would rather stay 100m before in Reagge hostel which is in a same street across this hostel.

The place was average the staff was above average! Mike went above and beyond to make sure our stay in Penang was enjoyable! Giving us insider tips etc. when we told him we were headed to KL he gave us his number and told us to call him if we needed him (although we didn't have to call him I felt it was a genuine offer). Great staff very laid back and helpful.

They double booked our room and so had reserved a room for us at a "comparable" place a few blocks away. The other place was DISGUSTING! Filthy with mysterious stains all over the walls. We were not provided a top sheet and when we asked for one, we got attitude from the owner, and then were given two tiny, pieces of fabric that reeked of moth balls. Bugs in the bed; hardly slept from the itching all night. Book elsewhere as a reservation at Love Lane Inn does NOT guarantee you sleep there!

You get what you pay for at this hostel. It's a cheap place to stay, but I was absolutely miserable here and considered cutting my loses and moving to a nicer hostel. No AC, terrible beds. You could feel EVERY spring in these mattresses. I couldn't sleep the entire time I stayed here. Bathrooms were disgusting. Wi-fi was turned off every night around 11. The only bright side was that they provided toast in the morning. Not enough to make up for everything else; don't stay here.

This is a get what you pay for hostel. The location was great but thats about it. Jimmy, the owner was really friendly and funny but the other guy 'Mike' I think, was a bit abrupt and his attitude wasn't always great. My dorm had 9 beds and 1 ceiling fan so the dorms were hot and sticky at night. The bathrooms were ok but only 2 showers for the whole place not including the 'shower' (pipe over the toilet) in the toilets. I recommend a few more fans in the dorms and maybe another 2 showers.

The hostel was dirty and smelly. There were no locks on the dorm rooms, and there are lockers downstairs which you can use with your own padlock - BUT several people had stuff go missing out of these locked lockers whilst I was there. You get given a sheet on arrival and pointed to a bare mattress. So you cover the mattress and sleep without a cover or sleep on the bare mattress and have a cover. I would not recommend staying here.

The staff (Jimmy) was very nice and patient with us. Gave some suggestions on where to visit in Georgetown. However I must say that the room (we took a private room for two) was quite stuffy as it is under the roof so it gets quite hot. Showers only has cold water, and toilets are not the cleanest. For a night or two, you can survive it. But it is definitely not the best around town for the price that we paid.

The hostel has its own charme, no doubt, but is very very basic. If you look for a boutique hostel this is definitely not the case, but if your budget is tight at the Love Inn you'll find the value for money you are looking for. On top of that staff is very friendly and helpful.

The lockers are not safe, and the personal is not sympathetic. You have to buy all, including the paper for the toilets!

You get what you pay for is the best way to describe this place! Its cheap so expect BUDGET!! The showers were dirty there is no toilet paper provided. You do not get a bed cover but you wont need it as there room only has a fan and its rubbish. It was a bit of a shock to come back to my dorm which was empty when I left to find a guy on the bunk in just his pants!! Wifi is only available from 9am to 11pm which is not clearly explained before booking.
