The hostel was clean but the facilities were very simple and old. The owner and staff were friendly.

No issues with the cleanliness. I'm reluctant to admit it since to me Jimmy, the owner, was always nice and helpful, but I don't doubt the complains about him for one second. He's touchy when it comes to complains or obeying the house rules and impatient with guests in general. You don't even get the remote control for the TV, you have to ask the staff to turn it on and change the channel. It wasn't really relaxing there, more like living next to a vulcano who's likely to erupt any time...

Very clean but otherwise awful place. Two mirrors, one western toilet, one sink, one free coffee then a fee, hard thin mattresses, slow internet, they lost my reservation, and the young Indian guy on night desk was rude and uncooperative.

May be cheap but feels as though they are trying to get every penny from you in other ways (no food or drinks allowed) and the fact that internet and electric sockets are turned off after 11pm is ridiculous with the time difference for people from the uk trying to skype home and no sockets in the dorms means you have to leave things charging with the front desk which has little to no real security for those things left there. Single room was terrible with no sealed wall so sleep was impossible

We really enjoyed our time in Penang, and a lot of that was due to this excellent hostel. The staff were wonderful and friendly, and it was so close to everything! It was the cheapest hostel we could find, so were bracing ourselves for the worst, but I couldn\'t have asked for more, except possibly less stairs! Thanks everyone for a fantastic stay. Cheers!

We did not feel that the hostel was suitable. We did not want to stay 3 nights we had booked but we had to pay for before we could see our room. We told the ownert that we would stay two nights but wanted to leave after that 48 hours notice. He started shouting and threatening to call the police (!) He was so unpleasant and abusive that we left and found a hotel elsewhere. We ended up payng for the 3 nights tho we didnt sleep there once. Thoroughly unpleasant experience.

Not a great place, but it's located right on the "big" backpackers strip, about 20 minutes walk from the ferry terminals. It's pretty clean, but there are not many showers, the mattresses are terrible, the owners can be dodgy (there was some scam every time we came in), and the internet is turned off at 11pm! Go next door.

Internet only between 9am and 11pm. Because many of us have many hours (difference) with our countries this is a problem. And also because during the day you are not in the hostel this a fool policy. Just one western toilet and one decent shower is not enough. The shower, could be a lot better and they should provide toilet paper, minimum. Is not allowed to wear shoes in the hostel... But, how they pretend that we are going to the toilet, that is always wet without shoes. The place is ugly

We showed up in the evening having booked a four bed private dorm at love lane inn to be told that we would be moved to another guesthouse. This is unacceptable. Instead of staying in the quiet street of love lane, we were moved to a room facing the traffic noise of the main road. For the price we paid, the standard of the room was much too low. We were unsure whether our sheets were clean. The shared bathroom was run down. The general feel of the guesthouse we were moved to was run down.

We stayed in a nice room with window and AC, very clean as the shared bathrooms. The owner is a bit lunatic and the staff not very pleasant, although for that money is good value, plus it gets easily full so don't think they'll change their attitudes..

Rooms without windows and only fans inatead aircons - but for that money you shouldn't expect more. In spite of that I can recommend that place to all low budget backpackers. Staff is very friendly and the owner veey helpful he knows everything about city and speaks good Englisg. You won't find better deal for just 25myr.
