I don't know if it was because of the Chinese New Year but it was really expensive and outside the hostel at the beach it was very dirty. If you have a hostel at the beach I absolutely think you shall clean up around. When I sat on the terrass a rat passed by. We had to walk to one other beach more nicer and cleaner. And we also found a new clean and better hostel with very much lower price 5 min away.

Location is the best part of this hostel. It's hard to find but well worth the search... ;) Breakfast at this hostel is pretty basic although coffee is very good. You can find many nice places to eat just nearby and you can catch a bus 5 minutes walk away to get downtown or other places. The staff is quite helpful and friendly and it wasn't too crowded in the dormitory during the time I stayed.

I LOVE staying at Lover Bay! At first it was hard to find where they are located, but thanks God finally we were able to call and found them! I couldn't believe we stayed near a beach. It wasn't a beach that we want to swim, but it was still pretty since we could enjoy relaxing time there. The location is PERFECT, many places to eat good Chinese food, buy things and EASY to get coconut drink (which I LOVE). The owners are FRIENDLY, HELPFUL,speak English! Rooms are clean! Will come back! Lenny H.

The place is nice and the people very friendly, but the location felt a little out of the way: quite a few cab drivers either didn't know the place or didn't want to take us there. The beach wasn't very developed, and is not really suitable for lounging around or going for a swim, as cars drive along it, dogs lie around there and it's just generally not the cleanest. But it was still nice to be able to look out onto the water and hear the waves at night.

What an amazing place to stay! If you want quietness, get up right onto the beach, and see the sun set while having dinner or sipping a good drink, this is where you should stay. It is far away from the craziness of Dadonghai or the city centre, located in a very typical village. Besides, it is easy to get there: 15mm away by bus from any other tourist bus line. The staff is really nice, I felt like I was at home contrary to sanya backpackers for instance. In one word, it was perfect for me.

Was a bit caught out by the pricing as I thought I had selected the best room online, however on arrival I still needed to pay more than I thought to get the best room. I would have stayed longer if the bed had a good mattress, but bearable for a few nights. If you check nearby Tianya Hostel (which I stayed in before coming here), their mattresses are perfect for anyone seeking western style sleeps.

Great hostel, slightly removed from downtown but not impossible to find a taxi. The neighborhood around the place has a ton of character, great street food and easy access to high-end resort beaches (you DON'T have to pay; don't listen to the reviews that say you do... hit up the Intercontinental resort's beach just 20-minutes walking distance from Lover's Bay). Other plusses: Espresso machine, good food (Western breakfast), clean rooms, Western toilets and overall awesome clientele.
