The hostel is clean and well equipped actually, but its getting a bit old. The power outlets are not enough in the room. The atmosphere wasnt really good and wont make you love this place. But basicallyl it does give all what you need for an accomodation.

Well Lucky D's surprised me for the best. One of the nicest hostels Iv been to, sweet atmosphere, helpful and friendly staff... Its probably the coolest place around if youre going to visit San Diego. They have really good internet, newly installed 5G. For me staying there was outstanding in every sense, and I really plan coming back soon

The hostel is in an excellent location, and has a good atmosphere. However, i wasn't impressed by the rooms only one outlet in the room i stayed in 404, plus the switch for the light wasn't working so you had to manually twist the light bulb to go on or off. There are only two showers per floor and sometimes were occupied therefore not being convenient when busy and on my last day one of the showers had broken down. The sports bar next door is great

I booked the entire room of four with 3 people in it over the phone. This left an extra bed I was willing to pay for, for the extra privacy. When I got there, they had us room with another person. Minor miscommunication error. But the front desk did try to move things around to get us in room to ourselves, but they were booked.

if you want a party hostel in close proximity to the gaslamp party area then this is THE hostel to choose! staff are awesome at organizing events and the common room buzzes for pre pub crawls. an awesome chilled out atmosphere and in a handy location to public transport, too. if I'm ever back in San Diego I'll be staying here again.

The hostel is well located next to the Gaslamp Quarter. But I've been traveling for a time in California and at this hostel was the only place that I didn't have help for the staff when I needed, actually the guy was really rude. I really was upset comparing to all those other hostels that people were kind and helpful. And there are not enough showers and bathrooms, they are outside and two of each for floor.

Lucky D's is an animal(aka GREAT) location and is definitely the best hostel I've ever stayed in. Normally I find hostels kind of grungy, but it was so clean, there were different evening events set on for all the guests, the staff were fabulous. Everyone is super respectful, its kind of like a family and when you stay there you become part of the family, a big shout out to Kevin who is new on staff and Meaghan too, ye are awesome and made out stay a great experience!!! I would recommend this

The worst hostel I have ever lived in. I did not feel welcomed for the whole stay. I lived in the room with 3 girls who were staying there for more than one week. The room was not ready after I checked in. The bed was in a mess. I was not given new sheet and pillow case so I wondered if the sheet was washed or not. The room was in a mess. I understand its part of responsibility of roommate. Yet, the hostel should be responsible to ask the guests keep the room clean.

It gets very loud at night on the weekends, but beside that, the Lucky D's Hostel is totally amazing!

Good hostel for youngsters on the road. Easy acces to all the pubs around and party-minded personel. Free diner is exceptionaly fine. Do not expect any rest or privacy though. Excelent stay!

Nice location and nice atmosphere. Facilities for 2 Persons were not really worth there price. Noisy and very hot because of the location on top of the kitchen. Better go there for a party-ride in a 4+ bed room.

Upon check in, they had not received our hostel world booking and my phone was dead so I could not show the e-mail. I lost the deposit I paid online and had to pay full price. The staff member was not interested in helping or offering any other solution. She just said we need to pay full price or we couldn't check in. Not a major amount of money, but the staff could have handled it better.

It's located downtown which means that the public transport is great but it's very loud. I wanted to leave cause the doorms were smelly, I don't know if it's the carpet or something else so I made sure that the window stayed open most of the time. I moved to a different doorm because the first one only had lockers where you have to put in a quarter each time you use it. Apart from the above mentioned things I really liked it there. The staff was always friendly and that's why I extended my stay

Unfortunately, our stay was plagued with errors and issues. There's been an issue with our booking which landed us in a 4 bed dorm instead of 2 doubles. The staff didn't seem to know what to do and the shifts don't leave each other notes, making us pay for what we were not supposed to. The room also was above a VERY loud bar that made even the beds jump far after midnight. I bet this place can be pretty cool if you don't plan to sleep at night. For us, it was a full scale disaster.

Not as good as expected based on previous reviews. Good location with pub crawls etc organised. Rooms and bathrooms not great. Attitude of the staff was poor. Overall an ok place to stay bit we wouldn't head here again unless there wasn't another option.
