my friend and i absolutely LOVED this place! it has SOOO much character! it's such a hip place considering it's a hostel. our room was clean too, and the bathrooms were also very clean. the free breakfast was really good too! i didn't have any problems with the noise at night. location was perfect as well. would definitely recommend this place!

i really liked this hostel! it has a lot of pictures and syle with lots of colorful walls and baroque mirrors.. that's awesome. i also liked the breakfast with toast, p+j, different cereals and sometimes waffles. staff was really friendly. doesn't have an elevator though, so that two flights of stairs were extremely hard to climb with all the stuff i brought!

the location is just awesome! almost on the beach! rooms are quiet, but there is lots of party going on, so just perfect for young people

Beds are old, but The Kitchen is really amazing! You have to pay for the lockers. Breakfast is good! Free dinner was delicious. When you check-in, there is a high key deposit of 20. Finally: cheap for being just in the middle of downtown! I enjoyed my stay there!!!

Everything was fine. Location was excellent and very nice staffs! But because it's right around the gaslamp quarter, it's not that quiet at night when trying to sleep. But I guess it was because it was around Christmas time. Very fine hostel.

Crazy parties, best location, nice foods. Everything was really good. I can recommend it to everyone!

We really liked this hostel and if you are wanting to party this is a good choice! Lots going on and loads of activities organised by staff! Free breakfast - very good! Very good facilities and location! All round good hostel!! Clean too!

I was there for Thanksgiving & as everything sort of shuts down in USA on Thanksgiving the Hostel put on a Thanksgiving dinner for $10 which was totally amazing, I felt like I was apart of a traditional family gathering at Thanksgiving Dinner, food & company was just amazing. Thanks for such a great night.

I've spent two weeks at Lucky D's in November 2011. The best thing about this hostel is its staff. In particular, Jae and Jackie are just lovely, amazing people! They will make you feel very welcome, and a bit like home too. It is greatly located, very close to Gaslamp Quarter which is the heart of San Diego. There are activities pretty much everyday organised at or by the hostel : movie/poker nights, clubs, pub crawls. There's always something to do, and new people to meet from everywhere! Go!

The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. Location was close to downtown as well as major public transportation areas.

What a wonderful hostel! Staff was super great. Tons of original artwork all over the place. You never get bored walking around. Great spot! And very clean!

Lucky D's is in a great location in the gaslamp district. We were able to walk downtown to all the great restaurants, bars, and sights. We had free dinner and breakfast and also met a lot of great travelers - everything we could want in a hostel :) Due to the location, it does get a bit noisy in the streets, but that comes with being so close to everything so we didn't mind.

Great hostel! Not much more to say than that really. And I couldn't even enjoy it fully, as I'm not old enough to drink...

Loved the hostel! We took a 4-bed dorm and it was nothing special but the hostel itself was great! It definitely has character and the location is alright. You can hear music blasting from restaurants nearby but it didn't bother us much. Buses are very accessible and staff are helpful. I'll definitely come stay here when I visit San Diego again!

Everything was perfect, from the generous breakfast to the generous staff!

Is real good site, very nice and clean. Is located near clubs, pubs, and transportation systems. I recomend.
