This is a good hostel, located in a quiet and safe hutong. The hostel isn't too far from the main tourist attractions either, about 2 or 3 metro stops away, with the nearest metro station only 5 min walk away. It's not a very social hostel though - the common areas are a bit cramped. Basic breakfast is included, and all in all it's a very clean and friendly hostel.
The staff speaks English and is very approachable. The hostel is clean and safe. On our first night in Beijing, our taxi driver dropped us at the 4th street from Zhangzizhonglu Station and it took us awhile before we were able to locate Xinsi hutong. I guess the challenge is part of our adventure. Make sure the taxi driver drops you off at the 2nd street (Dongshishiertiao) from the train station. The wifi was not working properly on our first two days of stay but was fixed after we complained.

Great little place- everything is cleaned every 5 mins, staff are friendly and internet is free. Dorms are basic but come with ensuite, and there are nice communal areas and free tea and coffee. Down a backstreet- not exactly the centre of the universe, but directions are clear and its very close to a subway station, plus it does feel like authentic Beijing. Didn't think so much of the Great Wall trip though- it was outsourced to a tour company who charged a lot for not very much.
I stayed at Lucky hostel for 8 days and I´ll do it again if I visit Beijing. Rooms and bathrooms are clean, they have free simple breakfast every morning . Staff is friendly and helpful (although they may not know very well the tours they offer, I asked what was the name of theater ofr the performance of Beijing Opera and they didn´t know). Location is ok, a little walk away from the Zhangzizhonglu metro station which is not far from many of the main Beijing tourist attractions.
