Eco-Friendly/ORGANIC.NO traffic noise ,bus crowds or sulphur smell. Rotoruas smallest,and only organic 'boutique-style' hostel, set amongst native bush overlooking LakeOkareka (20 meters) 10 minutes from Rotorua .The lakestay is modern, perfectly designed, casual accommodation, catering for the needs of the independent traveller looking for something natural, unique and affordable.
Ideal for small groups(up to 8 persons)where you can have the Lakestay to yourselves.

The tranquil setting is the perfect pristine paradise to take time out from a busy schedule or return to at the end of a busy day where one can enjoy the native birds while relaxing in the outdoor courtyard area. Attractions close by include The Buried village,The Blue Lake and Lake Tarawera.All rotorua attractions 10 min drive.
Regular transport service available into main centre,as often as required, for those without a vehicle.Many companies pick up from the Lakestay.

Lake Okareka is nestled amongst many beautiful lakes that are suitable for kayaking or trout fishing, and trips with local guides can be arranged. Boat trips can be combined with trout fishing and a relaxing soak in one of the many natural hot pools /streams on the lakes.
Mountain Bikes (FREE for 2 or more nights stay)to explore the many tracks/lakes.Kayaks are available for hire on site.
Take advantage of lake edge boardwalk nearby and bush walks to suit all abilities or mountain biking on any of the world class tracks. Lyons Lakestay is the ideal base for exploring the Volcanic /Thermal areas, and cultural experiences that Rotorua, Tarawera and the Central Plateau has to offer. The Bay of Plenty coast beaches are within a 1 hour drive.The perfect place to base yourselves while holidaying in the North island as attractions in Waikato,Waitomo,Coromandel,Central Plateau(skifields)&Bay of Plenty coast are reachable 1-2 hrs drive.2.5 -3 hrs from Auckland.
Rental cars can be arranged locally once you arrive or let us know and we will book it for you.

The lakestay is set up to be self catering, but organic breakfasts or a ‘Kiwi-style’ lunch or dinners also available, need only to let us know as they are made of fresh, New Zealand Products at an extra charge.

There are 2 rooms available as a twin or triple,that have a double and a single bed.
Pick ups are available from Tourism Rotorua(information centre&Bus stop)or the Airport.
