The staff here were not friendly at all. Apart from one cleaning lady, I would describe the attitude as barely contained hostility. Also one of our group lost keycard and was fined. This may be contained in the small print at booking but it should be reiterated check in as it's not the norm.

The only negative point of view was, fire alarmed rang at "5AM"!!!!! Location wise, near to train station, but bit distances from the city centre. overall, it was nice place to have short stay.

It was a lovely hostel and more like a hotel which was really nice. The staff were helpful and nice. Location was okay as it is right next to Sloterdijk station which is a 10 minute train journey to Amsterdam Central. The only downfall was that the wifi was terrible. We were on the 8th floor and it would cut out every couple of minutes and even in the lobby it was doing the same. As it was more like a hotel there wasn't much of an atmosphere for young people but still a good hostel.

Location was far from central Amsterdam but it was alright. Oh yes, one of the mornings the fire alarm rang about about 4.30am? Everyone had to evacuate the building. I think the best the staff could do was to explain to the guest about the whole situation that would be great.

Overall good stay. Next public transport and easy to get to town or airport. Confused about being placed in a 3 bed dorm room, a little too cosy but very clean and hotel like.

I was a single traveller in a room of 5. The rooms are brilliant: very clean and didn't feel claustrophobic. En-suite bathroom and shower was excellent too. The location was good for me, a short train away to the centre of Amsterdam or an inexpensive taxi ride at night. The staff were helpful but there was too few for the amount of people at the hostel. My biggest complaint was a fire alarm going off at 5am. That can't be helped but the staff did a terrible job of communicating to us.

It's a nice hostel (well, it's more like a hotel). You'll find people of all ages and backgounds (travelers, students, families, business people) . Not a party place, but there are chances to meet people if your social skills are good enough. Rooms are great, with private bathroom and even TV. It's location is not the best, it's far from downtown (20 - 30 min ride) but the bus (#48) and tram stations (#12) are just across the block.

I had a great time at this hostel - great crowds, great staff, and pretty good location even though it isn't in the city center.

Very nice and clean hotel, the rooms looks brand new. My only complain is about the wifi, it's slower than a turtle and several times don't work.

Place was very clean and we liked the lockers available. However staff was not always super friendly. wifi would only work for a couple minutes at a time so it was impossible to use it. Location was okay but the last bus was around midnight unless you don't mind taking a longer night bus.

Not a very good place to stay. Add in how expensive it is for a hostel and you have a lethal combination of awful. 8€ for a meager breakfast spread, nothing near it worth doing and a staff that wasn't helpful and often obnoxious. Stay somewhere else.

This is nothing like a hostel- don't stay here If that's what you're looking for!! Large groups stay here (ie. Highschool trips) so don't expect it to be a place to meet other travelers. Great staff. Great room.

DO NOT stay at this hotel if you're a back packer looking to see Amsterdam. It isn't close to anything but the station. it's surrounded by the business/office district so there literally is nothing to do near the hotel. To get to the city it's at least a bus ride or tram ride, such a pain. I really hated that I had to stay here, so inconvenient

The wi-fi was extremely poor at the MEININGER. It barely worked in the last two days we were there. Overall did not have a great experience with the customer service representatives, and it is so far. If you ever need to take transportation from the center city with the exception of public transit, it costs 20 euros, which I had to pay once because it was simply impossible to walk late at night.

Great hostel. Festive mood.

Great chain-hostel/hotel. Very hotel-like, very friendly. A bar included with cheap drinks, and only a 10 minute train ride to the downtown area where, to be honest, you don't even need to buy a train ticket because nobody checks. The best part of this hostel here, and why I gave the location an "Excellent" is because of the craft beer bar called the "Bret" neighbouring it. There is a bartender with blonde hair, bearded who knows everything about beer and made me come back trying all the beers.

Great hostel with sloterdijk station right next to it offering good connectivity. Very clean, it could have more common spaces though for interaction with other people. I would definitely come again though!!

Hostel ran like a hotel, i.e. dorm has 2 joined single beds and 1 set of bunk beds. Located quite far from central making going out at night a bit of a hassle.

Staying in a hostel with rooms that didn't reek of the B.O. from the previous few hundred men to have stayed there was a big plus for me. Not only that, but the rooms have on-suite bathrooms with showers and toilets separated into their own private closets, which made staying in the mixed dorm more comfortable. My only complaint was that the wifi kept disconnecting. The speed was perfectly fine, but I think their routers were simply not capable of supporting enough wireless devices.
