First day of visit, we was out of showergel. So we put the gel bottle visible marked as empty. And when they cleaned the room that day, they removed our towels and the empty bottle and didnt replace the bottle or the towels. But they was good and fixed it instantly when we asked for it.

This hostel was perfect. It was one train stop on the public transportation and was literally 2 minutes from the station. The room has lockers in it and is very clean! The staff was pleasant and again i have had really great stays at all meiningers!
Absolutely, a friendly staff, always willing to help and give me advice. My 6 Female Bedroom was clean and the facilities in general were very good. Perfect location, easy to reach by tram, train or bike. The Continental breakfast was very good and the atmosphere great
My review is biased as the Hotel were lovely enough to upgrade me from a 7 bed dorm to my own private room! Could not have been happier. Right next to the train station, with facilities being modern and new. You have to pay for the buffet breakfast but it is worth every cent. Will be returning.
The hostel has the right idea and don't get me wrong its great for older couples and families. Yes, so many families! We were two 23 year old girls who wanted a cheap bed, little did we realise its not very easy to get back to at 4am. If your a backpacker, don't be fooled by the fact that its a "cheap hostel" on hostel world as it's a family hotel! We were so tired from our bus when we got there and tried to nap and they even told us off. Won't be picking it for next time, maybe in 30 years?...
We booked very early but all got into different rooms. That really sucked. Rest was nice

Really, really nice. Expensive, but there wasn't a lot of choice in Amsterdam.
Great Place! Air Conditionitng!!!!
Wanted a hostel outside the city and this delivered. Easy to get to (right next to the station) and only one stop from the city. Missing the atmosphere of smaller hostels and a popular place for school groups so be prepared for young teens. Great facilities including washing machine and dryer in the kitchen, hair dryers in the rooms and personal lockers.
lovely staff, very friendly and helpful
Hostel was in the middle of nowhere. You literally need to take the train for everything. Aside from that, this is one of the nicest hostels I've ever stayed in. The cleanliness was above and beyond anything I expected. It honestly felt like a hotel. The rooms are HUGE and there's more than enough space for everyone. The restroom and shower are separated, and the sink is outside, which was really nice. The beds were super comfy, the room was air conditioned. Totally perfect.
This hostel is extremely out of the way and you do not get what you pay for. Running at 40 euro a night to share a room with 8 people is ridiculous but if you want nice accommodations with a friendly staff, but don't mind training it into the city everyday then this is your place. The rooms come with a TV, separate shower and toilet, sink, and comfy beds.
Overall nice hostel. Clean rooms, comfy beds. I did get some terrible bug bites while there, not sure if spiders or bed bugs.
A great hostel with very good conditions. I recommend it.
If you are looking for the Meininger for the first time it might be a little scary to think that you have just booked a hostel in the middle of nowhere. But actually its a one stop station (Sloterdijk) from Amsterdam and an excellent bus ride to Vogel Park vicinity. Its got a free and easy attitude from cooking your own meals to doing your laundry (queue basis); totally civilized and a melting pot for meeting other travelers. My kids were 8 and 11 and they enjoyed Meininger West
Much more like a hotel than a hostel! Really clean, the kitchen and bar area are nice and a great outdoor area with hammocks which was great in the sun. Really easy to get into the center of Amsterdam, just a short train journey. A really big hostel so not as cosy as some of the smaller ones, but definitely very nice.
The only problem I had with this hostel was the staff. They were pretty curt with me, like I was bothering them by asking how to get back into town, or if they had towels, etc. otherwise, it was like a giant hostel hotel that was very clean and orderly. I enjoyed my stay quite a bit :)
The hostel was more of a hotel with dorms so if you like this kinda thing! Its very clean and modern with efficient staff and facilities but there wasn't as much of a back packer cosy vibe as some others. The staff were friendly, knowledgable and helpful but couldn't have gone partying with them. Kitchen was good. It is a tube ride to the centre of Amsterdam but this is reflected in the much cheaper price which we needed! The rooms were really nice, loved the dorm ensuite and shower=excellent!
thanks to the train station, moving to the center was sooooooo easy ! great hostel, awesome facilities and atmosphere !
Staff were great, bar was nice. Breakfast was really good, though you'd expect that for nearly 6 Euros. Not the easiest place to meet people, but really very nice.
