I'm a single male traveler and I would not recommend this place if you want to meet other people. It is very clean, secure and conveniently located but there is no common area and the demographic it attracts is not your typical backpacker but instead more of a family vacation group.
Being right next to the tube station is amazing, and having one of the best cafes in Berlin, 'The Barn' right around the corner were the two best things about this hostel. Although not a good place to meet people if you're a solo traveller
Horrible & rude (female) staff - don't want to help just want to do the bare minimum. Rooms were fine but had no lockers Bar was expensive and no atmosphere They advertised FREE breakfast however it was 7€!! Location was okay, had to get a few train stops to get to the centre of town. Stayed in 2 meninger's and both times the staff were rude. - wouldn't stay there again.
Really great location, two stops from Alexanderplatz and underground right outside the front door of the hostel. We walked to Alexanderplatz everyday was very close. It was very clean, the staff cleaned our room daily. On arrival staff didnt really tell us anything about the hostels facilities or the area, they just gave us our hostel key. We were unlucky as there were two school groups staying in the hostel when we were there ages 15 -17 years. So we didnt get the normal hostel vibe.
There was a strange and unpleasant cleaner The kitchen was way too hot

It's good for a chain hostel, but the 6 bed room was a bit cramped
So clean, spacious and the staff were so friendly! Right outside the train station, couldn't be more pleased.
Good hostel. Would stay there again
Really nice hotel located right next to the underground station which takes you straight into town which is very convenient. The room was small for four people. There was a friendly atmosphere around the hotel which was nice and the staff were always helpful. Would stay here again.
Meininger is more of a hotel than a hostel with branches in all major cities, this has its perks and flaws as it can be clean and tidy but can also have less of a communal feel. It was a good stay but it may be harder to meet fellow travellers. Other than that the staff was very helpful and the rooms are very secure.
Beds were very unstable and loud, rooms sweltering and only had the window to open with 6 people and no fan. Empty hand soap and shower gel in our room during our entire stay and showers turn off after 25 seconds. Kitchen was nice but once again no dish soap which is icky. Staff didn't really have good recommendations on what to do or see in Berlin, we used the map and free waking tour. TONS of kids on a school trip everyday at the hotel, very loud and took up common area. Overall Too expensive
This hostel was in a very nice location. across the street from the metro. Served its purpose.
More of a hotel than a hostel. Nice and clean with good facilities however a poor atmosphere. There was also a large group of school children staying here when I was here. Close to a supermarket and has a kitchen if you want to prepare your own food.
I will recommend this hostel to my friends and relatives who will plan to stay in Berlin for few days in future :) i liked this hostel much much better than any other :)
