Very comfortable stay. I loved the outlets at each bed. I was traveling with a lot of stuff and didn't lose any of it. We did have to change rooms once but they made it very easy to do so

Great place, excellent location - only negative comments (and take note - these are very minor!) are that the bedside light by my bed didn't work, not sure if that was a design error (as the switch for it was too close to the bunk frame to readily access it) or just that it was broken, and the duvets were too hot for the season (by morning, all of the people in our dorm had kicked their duvets off, every morning, without fail).

Most of the things were really neat (i.e. location, cleanliness etc.). The staff, however, was slightly rude and snappy. Maybe we were just unlucky - the attitude described above goes to just one guy at the reception, other people were fine - but it was still unpleasant and rather surprising. Still, we were very much pleased with our stay and would consider choosing Meininger again. :)

In these times, trying to charge 2 euro an hour for wifi access? You must be kidding me... Also, huge gaps between check-out (10:00) and check-in (15:00), but you can stay until 13:00 if you pay more.

The hotel is very clean, renewed and comfortable. Location is good, near the Museum Island, very central, S-Bahn at the door. The only fail is that the bedroom was noisy, bad sound isolation, but nothing too serious.

i stayed in th 4 bed dorm (2x bunkbeds). the bad: rooms are a bit on the small side, so you dont get a lot of room. breakfast was a little pricey for what you get the good: facilities where excellent: nice kitchen, free wifi in a comfy lobby, the rooms wher absolutely spotless: particularly the bathroom. very clean and modern. location is great also. literally next to suburban railway: oranienburger strasse station which is one stop away from freidrichstrass which is a main hub.

GOOD: Very beautiful hostel, clean, modern, close to the subway, 10 min walk to Alexander platz or Reichtag. BAD: WIFI is only free in the hall otherwise you need to paid to have access in the room.

It's a nice stay. The bathroom and washroom are very clean. It's so considerate that there's socket and lamp next to the bed. It's good that they provide soup and shower gel in the bathroom. Everything is good, except it's a bit noisy at night, because of the street.

This is a great hostel. We booked a 6 person private room, and my friends loved the three-high bunk beds! Very unique. The room was cleaned everyday, and the front desk helped my friend out tremendously when her baggage was lost on our flight. We would absolutely stay here again, especially for 15 euro/night.

I thought that overall this was a good hostel and value for money. However, both my friend and I did not get our requested rooms and were instead shifted into larger 8-bed rooms. When I asked why the receptionist informed us that the room would never have more than 4 people. Besides being a clear breach of contract, I was also dishonestly lied to. She said, after consulting the computer, that only 4 people were currently checked in including me but I discovered there were 5 when I entered.

Although we booked in advance and arrive more than on time, the staff "made a mistake" forcing us to change hostel. The service quality was low low low (a smile is free!!! but maybe still too expensive for the staff...) After loosing one hour trying to negotiate another room, even with lower conditions, we had to change hostel anyway. The other hostel was lower in quality and service. So sure the Meininger hostel looks nice... but cross your fingers to get in! Cheers!

Very clean, modern hostel/hotel. Amazing what you get for your money considering you are the center of a major European city. Excellent power-shower in the en-suite bathroom. A couple of doors along from The Kunsthaus Tacheles. Although the bars that use to be at the top and bottom floors of this art house building are closed (as is the beer garden), the artists are still on the second and third floor if you fancy a walk around.

Now very good atmosphere since the hostel was so big, but the facilities were ok, it was clean and you could always meet people at your dorm room.

My friends and I stayed on several Meininger hostels in Germany and Austria and we all thought Meininger Berlin Mitte is the best by far. Good location, very near to subway station, everything new, super friendly and helpful staff (most of them)... even the lobby is great to spend some time at the end of the day. My only complain would be the quality of the free wi-fi, which works only in the lobby an is very erratic, but then again, it's free. So, I woul definitely stay here again!

If you're looking for a place a bit away from the busy streets, this place is great. Easy to get to a lot of places and very clean.

Excellent hostel. We booked a six room dorm out for our party. For around €15 per person per night, it was a bargain. It was over two levels and was very comfortable. There were lockers in the room and the toilet and shower were up to good hotel standards. Coffee, beer and snacks available from reception seemingly all day and night. Excellent location, right next to the S-bahn. Would definitely return.

While it didn't really have a funky "theme", it was clean and spacious and all-around exactly what all hostels SHOULD be. If you don't want to have to take a freezing shower or worry about the bed bugs, book this hostel. The location in the mitte was especially good; nearby the museums, an S and U-bahn station, Jewish Synagogue, and on the same block as the Kunsthaus!
