The hostel wasn't very clean... but I did meet some pretty amazing people here. The hostel is in a pretty decent location.

The hostel itself was fine - clean sheets, friendly staff, nice rooms, good location. However, the matresses were really lousy. Impossible to sleep on them, super thin, totally uncomfortable . The breakfast was good, although you have to pay extra. If you don't care about the matress, then go for it. If you want to sleep well, I would invest in something more expensive.

Nice hostel with good breakfast on offer. Note this is not in the centre of Cologne which is about 20 minutes away. Really liked the self catering kitchen.

All in all very cosy hostel with a nice atmosphere! My only down-points are the kitchen... Wasn't very clean, which was because of other guests but still... the waterboiler and washing machine seemed to be (partially) broken during my time there.

I was only here for 12 hours, but in that time I met a lot of good people--the whole hostel had a good vibe. At the same time, the room I was in was quiet so I didn't have to worry about being woken up in the middle of the night.

Good hostel, but mattress had a cigarette burn and the room smelled like cigarette smoke. It would be really nice if you provide a computer free of charge to people who travel light without their own laptop.

Nice hostel in pretty central location, and it's not so hard to reach the airport from here. The room I stayed on has a private bathroom, which is very cool. There's also kitchen to prepare your own breakfast/dinner. Staff is really helpful. Overall experience was pleasant.

Basically a very good hostel with good facilities and very clean... except the bathroom had a stale sewerage smell about it and the kitchen also had a similar smell.

Although my boyfriend and I had booked to be together in a dorm, the hostel made a mistake with their bookings and we got split up into different rooms. When they were finally able to put us in a room together on another night, we had to change dorms a couple of times which was quite annoying. The staff didn't seem overly organised with their rooms and bookings.

I really enjoyed my experience at Meininger. I stayed in an 8-bed mixed dorm and i was the only girl in the room. However I met wonderful people in my dorm and never felt unsafe! The bathroom is clean and cosy. The little table and chairs in the room are wonderful too! I had great chats with roomies around the table :-) The only con is that it's not very close to the main station...and I payed 13E for my stay while people who booked a room just three days before their stay payed only 10E:-(

I am female and travelling alone. I was warmly greeted at Meininger and felt safe the whole time. I was in an 8 bed shared dorm with ensuite and this was always clean. Linen provided was also clean :) Walking distance to everything important. I did leave my jeans out of my bag and they got taken (hopefully by accident and my fault really) so I just recommend keeping everything safe. Will definitely visit again!
