Given that Meininger is a chain, we were surprised by how little they used this to their advantage in creating a hostel comparable to most similarly priced independent hostels. Though clean and with friendly staff, it lacked many of the special touches that hostels are increasingly expected to provide (e.g., there were: no towels in bathrooms, poor mattresses, no bed lamps, no internet in dorms, no free breakfast). Perfectly fine stay for a hostel, but we expected more.

We asked for three different recepcionist what club to go, neither of them said us a good place. In fact, the neighborhood of Pratersauner, one of the clubs as really dangerous. So, never ask these recepcionist where to go out at night. The atmosphere of the hostel makes it almost a hotel, that's why there are familys and it's not the coolest place for young people. Besides that, everything is very good.

I stayed at Meininger hostel for 3 night, in a dorm. Everything was good and clean. Our only problem turned out to be another person we shared the room with who stinked. The location seemed a little far from the center at first but the train is direct so it takes no more than 10 minutes to get there. I would recommend it!

Great place, clean and well ubicated. WiFi should be FREE on the rooms as it´s only in the lobby. Very confortable beds and rooms, i really recommend this place. Also delicious breakfast (Euro 4.50) and 2 minute walk to the underground metro.

Extremely secure and clean and quiet hostel in a good location. We enjoyed staying there a lot. Very good (but a little bit expensive) breakfast.

Very clean, safe, well run hostel. Great staff will help you with everything. Can only get free wifi in the lobby (and I had a lot of issues with the signal) and breakfast is not included. However, would really recommend this hostel. Good beds with outlets and great showers.

Very clean hotel place right next to a metro station a couple stops from the city center. Easy to find and plenty of space inside the dorms. Typical dorms with bunk beds and a single toilet and shower to share.

It was a nice place: nice facilities (one bathroom in every bedroom), nice and clean beds. The breakfast, that was not cheap after all, was pretty basic, slightly better than the regular breakfasts in the breakfast included hostels. It was too far from downtown (40 min walk to the rathuis, for example, and 1 hour walk to get to schonbrunn palace). The downmost side of the hostel is that is full of families and kids and does not feel as a hostel anymore.

lots of children in the hostel, the bar was nice and the breakfast was alright but they didn't offer any type of pub crawls or tours or anything. they have a sign outside that says hotel and not hostel and it kind of felt that way. a place to sleep and eat but no atmosphere whatsoever. the staff were nice and helpful and the room was cheap, especially for Vienna.

The only problem I've noticed that we almost didn't get a parking place because it was full and we had to use the one which is for disabled people. But we stayed for only one night so it was okay and luckily nobody needed that place.
