Excellent location, near to East Nanjing Road and metro. Great place to meet people and the beer is very cheap. Problems taking a hot shower. Arrived after the boilers had been turned off and in the morning there was still no hot water in my Double private Ensuite even after 9am. The shower head was broken and fell on my head. As a result I had to fly back to Europe feeling dirty. Staff was very nice. Value4money is ok for dorm rates, but for privates I think is better to book a regular hotel.

First of all staff in clueless about what is around the hostel and on top of that had no idea where the subway stations where at. We asked simply questions like, where is there a pharmacy, where is there place to take or do our laundry., Simple questions like those they could not answer. We asked about a laundry mat even tho the hostel had two washing machines, one of the machines didn't even work properly and the the dryer isn't even a dryer. I ended up drying my clothing in my room.

I had a private room and bath. Really large space, well furnished. Hot water wasn't really great.

Staff attitude is very rude, especially the young men. Employee attitudes are very unkind. And the room does not have windows, ventilation is possible on the Internet cancel Bowl rental and other cookware has been introduced, but no microwave Beach should only Difficult to climb stairs carrying heavy luggage elevator not Inconvenient location far away from the subway station. Buy stuff around the supermarket None

Overall, I thought that the hostel was a pretty good deal. The rooms were relatively clean, but do take note that if you're intending to stay in one of those dorms without windows, it gets really stuffy and the air gets really stale inside the room. Also the showers do not have 24h hot water, only during specific timings (during the peak periods such as morning till noon, and from evening to night). Location was pretty good in the heart of the city (pretty much), easily connected by metro.

Beds and facilities are fine, toilets could use more regular cleaning though. The location is great, though the street isn't particularly well-lit at night time. Factor that could use the most work: staff. Staff were listless and far from welcoming. I've had a much better experience for the same price in Shanghai. That said, if average service doesn't bother you, this is a great place to stay.

they didnt have the room we booked available, so they put us in a different one which was more expensive and they made us pay the extra price, thats not my problem!!! mattresses are full of springs sticking in ur back! the showers are not very hot. overall is not a bad hostel. Good location and good atmosphere (pool, guitar, cheap beer and nice food)

This is an excellent hostel that literally could not be in a better location. Less than a 5 Minute walk from the Bund. The Facilities are exactly what I would hope to find in a hostel. Staff are friendly and helpful. Big plus is the large common room area. We were a group of 15 and we all managed to fit in. Very good

All things were perfect only except for the mood of the room. Room was a little bit dark... But it was not a big deal. : )

Location is good and the bar is fun. We were however extremely annoyed by the fact that the staff told people to continue drinking on the first floor after the bar closed, next to our room which kept us awake until the morning. We asked them several times to keep quiet but that didn't help. Though several people complained to the staff they didn't take any action. Central location makes up for this though and the price is not bad.

A lot of people use the bathroom but they do a good job keeping it clean. The rooms should be cleaned more often. Mine smelled like a mixture of death and high school locker room. Great bar and great people staying at the hostel though. Really chill place. Good food too. Nothing really bad about this place, you just wish for a bit more effort by the staff. They do a lot of sitting around.

If only they changed bed sheets more often you're rank would be so much higher. I heard this from other reviews and experienced it myself. It is too bad. Especially because of the long stay guests. I don't need the cleanest room. But when my room smells like sweat and old laundry because two of my roommates (great guys) have been living there for 3 months, it is not the happiest thing. But food was good and location is premium.

Great stay, though atmosphere is lacking, especially during Christmas - consider visitors are not just from China itself. Mix people in dorms more thoroughly - the main reason for staying in hostel dorms is to meet people from diverse backgrounds.

Location is good. There are some local food shop on the same street of Hostel and they are cheap and good taste. Be aware your shower time. I stayed there for 5 days and sometime I couldn't get hot shower especially at night.(Lots of people take shower at same time)

We had a lovely stay at the Mingtown Hiker Hostel in Shanghai. The private room was more like a hotel than a hostel with tv, hot water, wifi, towels and everything else you could need provided. Downstairs was a nice little bar/restaurant area which had meals, snacks and drinks. The location was excellent. Unfortunately, one guest made quite a lot of noise that night after coming in drunk and kept half the hostel awake for most of the night but I would still stay here again.

Really close to the Bund, tons of local shops and restaurants nearby. Dorms were a little tight, showers were roomy and good pressure. Bar and restaurant downstairs is a great common area to meet people, and drinks are really cheap. Staff were great. I would definitely stay here again!
