The room was small but very clean and comfortable. The owner was so helpful and informative. He had a map ready for us and pointed out some great places nearby to get food. Located very close to centraal station. I would recommend.
overall the hostel is very nice and clean in good location. Just host behaves to everyone as to teenagers. Not very polite.
Proprietor could have been more friendly. No wifi. Very quiet at night, rooms were tiny but had everything you needed. Not much ventilation.
The boat itself was lovely, very clean, pretty and scenic, 15 min walk from the station and town. You're not given access to the kitchen, and while hot water and a fridge is provided. The use of the fridge is conditional. We were told we could use the fridge as long as everything was labelled, when we left out drinks in there the next day they had been taken away, when I enquired into it, I was told that we could not leave drinks that they also sold to customers in the fridge!!
Leontin the owner was very friendly and knowledgeable about the city. He provided us with a map and also told us where we could get free wifi as they do not yet provide it. They let you use the upper deck of the boat to hang out and relax which is really fun. The location is good for exploring the city but it's can be a long haul from Amsterdam Centraal when you're carrying suitcases so pack light! You have to cross a few bridges and walk to the harbor and down the dock. Overall a good choice.
The staff was really nice and the location is beautiful. The only lil problem was that is was summer time (warm and humid) and our room had poor ventilation. More recommended on winter-spring-autumn time. The rest was perfect, no complains at all=)
Quirky hostel located near main railway station, and about 20-25 minute walk to main areas of the city. Amsterdam is a perfect city for cycling, so I recommend renting a bike regardless of what hostel you stay in. :) The boat is secure, clean and the beds are comfortable. The room we had (twin) was very small (as you'd expect) and along with small windows, it got stuffy and warm very quickly. As far as Amsterdam hostels go, this place is really nice, location is the only real issue though.
The idea of staying on a boat is a bit quirky but it works! Only downside is the room is tiny, i know i know... its a boat! I would do it again but i dare say my brother would not, but he's posh.
It's a boat!!!! Need I say more? The staff was great! There's a little sun deck on the front of the boat, which is wonderful when having coffee in the morning or a beer in the evening. Don't go here if you want a lot of room though; remember, it is a boat. Considering that, the room makes the very best of the space available. I'm 6'4" and I was able to sleep well on the bed, and I could almost stand up in the shower! Lastly, IT'S A BOAT!!!!! You should stay on a boat at least once in your life.
Great central location and it was very interesting to stay on a boat - my first! Clean and well maintained place.
Had a really good stay on MPS Noorzden. Staff were very friendly and helpful and were always on hand to help on answer any queries
This is absolutely first class. After a very friendly and helpful welcome we were allocated pristine cabin accommodation with comfortable beds and excellent en suite. The location was great - only 10 minutes walk to the centre of Amsterdam and all attractions. MPS Noorderzon provides excellent and reasonably priced city centre accommodation and we can recommend it without reserve.
